or you could break there necks......
just depends on what you mean by not much space.... IE: height width so forth
all 3 methodes will help control upward growth
sea of green allso works great in small spaces

Hey Bigsmoker,
I am taking it this is your first go at growing. So for starters I want to say congrats at deciding to give this fabulous hobby a try. 4' of height is a little low but VERY VERY do-able.
I guess it is really going to determine what kind of lighting you are using as to what will work best for you. There are several variables when it comes to growing as I am sure you are well aware of. The breed of plant is a very big determining facter first off on how tall the plant will grow. If you have knowledge of the seeds you will be using it will help out greatly in your thought process. If you know that the plant is a short natured plant to begin with I personnaly would recomend topping twice at the 5th and then again at the 2nd nodes and flowering after the 2nd topping to keep the plant very short. If the plant is tall/lanky or you have no idea I would recomend topping and LST. But that is just my thoughts on the subject.
I guess the biggest question is the 4 foot, is it 4' of actual grow room or 4' of enclosure that you have to put light into as well? If you still have to put light into that 4' then you are looking at a 2' finished plant after you subtract the height of the pot you are planting in and subtract the distance the light takes up.........
Just don't expect maricles to happen. Plan carefully and think it thru a couple times. I am sure you can figure out a good way to make it work for you....
Good Luck & Keep it green.

I grow in a cab that only has 3' total height, so 4' would be a luxury for me :rotf:
I have tried topping, scrog, L.S.T and even hydro MWC but the easiest for me by far is SOG ;) Some plants don't like being topped, yet some plants love it, it's good when you find a plant that loves to be topped and gives you loads of big fat heads :D
peace,

if i was you i'd start with lst or scrog and practice cloneing then when your plants are done you can just switch over to a sea of green or evan just do a sea of green from the get go i've got the same height as you and i always have a foot or 2 left when they are done i veg till they reach 6" for the more sativa's and 10" inches for the clones that are more indica's these yeild 30 to 35 grams depending on strain for the one's i have and the sativas yeild 15 to 25 grams depending on the strains aswell
