Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble getting my old PC connected to my network.
Ok, I caught my son accessing some mild porn a while back on his PC in his bedroom so I disconnected it from my network for around a year. He’s done my head in keep asking for me to reconnect him again so I thought I would give him another chance.
I restarted the PC back to factory settings and now I can’t get it to work on the network again. I have set the IP addie, subnet mask and default gateway but I can’t get onto the net on his comp?
I can communicate with my router so I think it’s all connected properly, but I can’t seem to get past that point and onto the net.
Any idea’s what I’m doing wrong anyone?
By the way, the PC is running Win98 SE ;)
peace,

In 'Network connections', are they enabled? Any wires get unplugged during the process? um.. Maybe you typed in something improperly or you changed the addresses. Whichever other computer you have that is the main 1 on the network should still remember the toher computer, or the router should, so it's that computers fault. Maybe you made new information for it?
I dont know, really. just trying to help. :D

Still a work in progress bro, waiting to hear back from brother bald1.
Home networking is very simple these days, in most cases you just plug your computers into the router and you're pretty much off to the races.

Sorry guys, I'm working flat out decorating my living room at the moment and I haven't had time to play with the other PC, I'll try to get on it as soon as I get a spare couple of hours to play :D

^^^ Hahaha That and a very demanding wife  hehehe. She got me working on the hall, stairs and landing straight after and I'm still doing it :D
Sorry for the lack of updates on this issue everyone, I did get it sorted about a month or so ago, it seems it was the default gateway that was incorrect :o
I first tried using the same gateway that's set on this computer, but that was not getting through. After changing the gateway to the same as the one set in my router because it was different...hey presto it worked
Now something else has gone wrong, the same PC has now stopped working so I'll have to start another thread me thinks :D
Thank's for the help here you guys
