Home Remedies for Indigestion

In Ayurveda this condition is called agnimandya. Even without
a disease one may suffer from indigestion by overeating or
eating wrong food in a wrong manner. It may result in a
feeling of heaviness in stomach, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting
and burning sensation in the chest. Psychic factors like
anger, anxiety and worry also play an important role in the
digestion of food. Follow the tips:

*Mix equal parts of baking soda and water in a glass. Drink
as soon as you feel indigestion coming.
*Mix one teaspoon of cumin seeds (jeera) in a glass of water
. Add one teaspoon of fresh coriander leaf juice and a pinch
of salt. Have it twice a day.
*Eat half a teaspoon of aniseed to improve digestion.
Lemon juice mixed in warm water taken three times a day
improves digestion.
*A teaspoon of seeds of ajwain with a little rock salt is a
good remedy
*One or two teaspoon of coriander juice, added to fresh
buttermilk, is highly beneficial in treating digestive
disorders.
*Have papita fruit and get some relief
*The teaspoon of Celery (Ajwain ka patta) seeds soaked in a
glass of buttermilk for 5 to 6 hours should be ground in the
same buttermilk mixture and administered to relieve
indigestion.
*A tablespoon of cinnamon water, taken after an hour after
meals, relieves flatulence and indigestion.
*Ground cardamom (chhoti elaichi) seed mixed with ginger,
clovesand coriander is an effective remedy for indigestion.
*Clove (Laung) promote enzymatic flow and boost digestive
functioning.
*Go for a walk for 30 minutes
*Fresh juice of curry leaves , with lime juice and sugar, is
an effective medicine for indigestion.

a couple things i use for indigestion (or lots of stomach things, really) are:

peppermint - this is a biggy. just eat the fresh leaves right off the plant till you feel better. works for me every time

Honey - another biggy. if you put it in your hot tea instead of sugar it will get rid of an aray of stomach problems

Tea - good for stomach aches as well, not to mention if you drink enough it will relieve your constipation (coffee works better for that though)

i like to make a tea sometimes with all of these ingredients in them and it works wonders. im not a big fan of any otc or prescription drugs (i even avoid tums)

adding more acidity to your food like lemons, vinegars and such will help digest your food and prevent heartburn. if i get heartburn i usually take a shot of apple cider vinegar (its nasty but it does work)

just a couple of things that help me, but everyone's body is different and you have to be able to recognize what the problem is before you start treating it...

Few questions on this one.
Does the Cumin have to be seed or can you use ground. And the Coriander does it have to be leaf tea or can you get away with the spice. I have these things in my cupboard and sounds like it would help a lot.

with most herbal remedies the key is freshness (because most of the essential oils are volatile and just arent as potent when you ground them- it's why you dont break your weed up until your ready to smoke. if you stored it ground it would lose potency) but if all you have is pr-ground they'll work, just use a little more than it says too. and dried herbs are generally more potent than fresh so watch out

this will teach you how to make herbal tea's correctly

That would put me back in hospital if I ate too much acidic food. Damned ulcers give me so much stick when the acid levels increase in my stomach, then I get it all night long because of my hiatus hernia (sp) :D

I have to watch my diet very carfully, but you wouldn't think it from my size lol :o

I've always found bicarbonate of soda very good for Indigestion and heart burn, 1/4tsp in a glass of milk washes down a treat and works real fast ;)

peace,
bald1.

yeah man everybody's body is different

ive read articles where it said that the average persons diet in industrialised countries are full of fast food and shit and it causes alot of the dietary problems that people have today. like there is a tribe somewhere in the world where the people live 30 or 40 years longer on average because all they eat is whole grains and fresh fruits and veggies. if you google "hunza" i think it was the name of the tribe. like hippocrates said "let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" :eat:
