.Seems like a good place to grow a couple plants. :smokin:

I figured, what the hell, no one else was going to do it. :D

Unfortunately, I have no working digicam. Things may change with time, but no guarantees. ;) So you'll have to suffer through my mundane verbiage.

Some details about my climate and other grow conditions. Average annual rainfall is near 40 inches. Too bad we are in an extreme drought, currently close to 14 inches behind over the past 9 months. So water will be even more crucial.

Average last frost is on or about April 20, and average first frost is somewhere around October 31. So if you do the math it is about a 5 month season, usually I push the limits on both ends.

Approximate latitude 38 degrees north and at about 1,500 feet above sea level.

Seeds have already been started using the paper towel method and are about a week and a half above surface. Transplanted into a seedling flat that has 36 spaces, and all but 4 have sprouts. Some even have two or three, damn sprouted seeds are hard to handle. Will keep them inside under overdriven t8 fluorescent tubes until its time to put them out. Your guess is about as good as mine as to the strain though. Could be anything from white russian or widow to blueberry or purple skunk. I have been blessed with quite a variety but failed to keep them organized, So I just start them and see how they grow. So far most grow into nice buds.:smokin:

Anyway, now is the time to be turning over the soil in preparation for planting out in the coming months. So i will be taking my handy folding army surplus shovel and making the rounds. Probably add some soft rock phosphate, alfalfa pellets and cow manure to the soil at each of my rotated grow spots.

That’s about all I can think to say for now. Hope some of you will stop in from time to time and help keep me motivated, for it is a long time till November.

Good Growing. :smokin:

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Cranky, I have/had a digicam, but it got dropped down a bluff on the river and has not worked since. Might look into haivng it repaired or just get a cheap new one. It'd be cool to have one again. Cheers bro.

Dre, seems to me you already have an outdoor journal of your own. I'd love to have a greenhouse. Good growing to ya. :smokin:

The sprouts are just starting to have roots poke out the bootom of the flat, so they will need transplanted in a few days. probably just use some 20 ounce dixie cups. Just watering lightly every few days with plain old tap water so far.

Toke it easy :smokin:

thats coo ima be reading along also i want to try a outdoor grow.. for me when i get my seeds im going to use the ziploc baggy germination method then when they got the roots or w/e u call it ima put it in the red cups .. i already have soil for it too .. but when u put the seeds in do u put it in with the root going up? or is it down? im not sure .. after doing that im going to water it a little bit with drinking water and then just leave it outside and see what happends. is there anyway to make your plants shrink? because i dont want mine to be super tall because if theres a way to shrink it im going to plant in my backyard . ive never planted anything in my life and planting some bud is gnna be my first haha it looks fun .

edit - the weather over here[cali]is super hot this month . and it doesnt rain much .. so is that good or bad? i dont mind watering the plants either, how many times am i suppose to water it a day? and how long does it take for the bud to grow into a full plant and then getting the buds?

oh yeah im gonna start out with StressWeed seeds so it wont be bomb chronic =\

Good Day SoFaded, nice of you to drop in. :smokin:

To answer your questions, it is my opinion that mother nature will do the work regarding the proper placement of sprouted seed. I find it difficult enough to get the fragile package from paper towel to soil, that I am glad just to drop them into the hole in the soil and let mother nature adjust root shoot growth in the proper direction. But some do suggest at least making an effort to put the root sprout down when making the transfer. I've not noticed any measurable lag in the upside down to the right side up placed sprouted seeds.

The only foreseeable problem with placing the seedlings in cups outside would be if it rained and flooded them while you were away, or the hot sun drying them out while you were away. watering frequency is subject to several variables, the best way to judge is by frequent inspection. You don't want them to get too dry or stay too wet.

To control height you can use topping or any variation of directed growth tip training. I am sure there are some good tutorials on either technique around here somewhere, I'll see if I can find some links for you to check out.

The time frame for getting buds is dependant on the light/dark ratio and a few other variables. Generally speaking buds begin to form in the northern hemisphere under natural light some time in late August and are done anytime from late October to December.

Good Growing. :smokin:

Well I finally transplanted the seedlings out of the 6 pack trays to 20 ounce dixie cups. It was way over due. The promix bx that I had on hand was so dry that water would literally bead up and run off the surface, so I had to soak them in the bath tub overnight to get them watered in real good after the transplant. 31 cups, one on its way to death and two with two each, so thats 33 seedlings, if I count correctly. Its hard with my shoes still on so forgive me if I am wrong.

The weather has been dry and warm. So if I can get my act together I sould be able to plant out in a 3-4 weeks.

i am hatching crazy schemes in my head about how to sneak one plant in in my yard. I live on a corner, with no fence what so ever, so it will be a long shot. my best plan my be to wait till later in the season to keep it small enough not to stick out like a sore thumb.

toke it easy. :smokin:

Very nice Q!

Boy it must be the Spring Time buzz in the air.... hatching crazy schemes here for a yard grow too.... and think the same.... wait until later and keep it small. *plan*
