In one off my bloom rooms I got 8 plants from clone, all either 5 white russian 3 white widow, they are all very small about 1 foot, and just started blooming under 1 400 hps. Will this one light provide the plants with enough light?

I'm using 1200W HPS for 10 plants, and I'd say I'm only just gonna have enough wattage to see them through flower. 5 Plants per 600 is as much as I'd be happy with.

But maybe someone else has a view?

It all depends on how much surface area they require.

400HPS? 10 sq.ft or less is excellent but stay below 15.

Yah, I agree with fillabong, depends on what size the containers are. When the plants are small, I actually hang pieces of string off the lamp shade so I can sort tell who is directly under and who may be out the sweet spot a bit.

I guess I am gonna put my thoughts in here too. As filla says, it all depends on your coverage area. I agree 100% with him on that.

Now I am gonna this.......
How Much Light is asked so many times it isn't funny. That seams to be the question everyone asks but never gets a real answer. I remember when I first got into indoor cultivation. I got SOO pissed over this question. It is such a simple question, why does nobody answer me. Well, it isn't really such a simple question to tell you the truth.

In our "Grow Guide" you will see a few figures on what we say for lighting.

Quoted from the Grow Guide:

Now, minimal grow lighting needed to sustain good growth is around 2500 Lumens per Sq. Ft., Mid range being around 5000 lumens per Sq. Ft., and optimal being around 8500 Lumens per Sq. Ft. You can also use watts to determine how much lighting you need. Minimum being 20 watts per Sq. Ft., mid-range being 40 watts per sq. ft., and optimal being 65 watts per sq. ft. Now when figuring lighting amount in Fluorescents you generally need 3 to 5 times as many watts as you do with HID lighting because they emit a lot less light. It is always better to figure your lighting with Lumens per sq. ft.

Now I am gonna say this, YES the plant will grow with less than 2500 lumans per Sq. Ft. but not the best looking plant will come out of it. I have grown with as little as 15 watts per Sq. Ft. but the results weren't all that great.

Now with 8 plants budding at less than a foot or so, Man you can squeez them together and have pretty close to optimal lighting. If you spread them apart and let the light stay up high, you will decrease your actual lighting. Your light decreases every inch you move it away from the plant. Make sense?

Sorry for rambling on. lol

thanks alot eveyone for the input:D i really appreciate it. well im gonna keep these small eight in there because it seems to fit the growspace well, as long as the light is enough. And ill hopfully be getting a greenhouse, seems to me the best idea i have quite a bit of space for one and this california sun isnt anything to waste.

Depends on the size of your containers. I have a 1000w HPS and just did the most I've ever done under that single lamp (7). I like to use 5 gallon pots, though, so I learned that I had too many plants this time. I used to use a 400w MH and 4 fit nice under it using 5 gallon containers. Good luck.

In my other room (bloom room 1) I have 4 bigger plants under a 400, and I have 8 small plants all lined up pots touching eachother under the other 400, and they are all in 5 gal pots.
