All i need...
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2069&d=1140561074
All i do is wet my papertowel...fairly wet...i let it drip off excess water...but my end result is a very wet papertowel..place my seed in the towel and fold...pressing the edges lightly to seal the towel so they don't move around ...
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2070&d=1140561074
put in baggie...blow up...
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2071&d=1140561074
and hide away in a cupboard that is not used too often to allow no interuptions...except for my own to check their progress

*Will follow up as soon as theirs any action*

when i check the seed in about 24 hours i will refresh the air in the bag if they haven't popped...i would have to guess that the temp in the closet is about 18 C /68 F...approx...i shall put a thermometor in there as soon as i find an extra...
*Note to self...buy more thermometors* :p
PS...Looking forward to yours CB :D

and the seed has popped....took only about 35 hours :o
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2091&d=1140913051
and the famous red cups ...we leave half empty and top up after the seed has its first leaves...makes for a shorted stock
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2092&d=1140913051
zen likes to be sterile...we use tweezers to handle the new taproot...using the tweezers only on the shell of the seed

Wow, you don't know how to seal air in a baggy? That's ok. You just seal the bag than open towards the center about an inch, blow and seal.

i close the bag almost all the way and keep my hand on the seal....as i use my other hand to open the hole gently...like prying lips from the sides  i keep blowing as i close the rest of the way...tricky to get at first...but once you practice a bit...you'll get it:p
stickysensi21..yes a nice warm spot works well...hanging the bag off the back of the fridge with a clothes pin is my fav...but our fridge here is too close to the wall :(

I used this method on 5 WW beans. I put the baggie on a paper plate and set that on a heating pad in the hot water heater closet... a little over 48 hours later 3 cracked open. I planted all 5 in cups and set them in the sun so we'll see if the other 2 come around. :watch: I prolly should have just left the 2 in the baggie but... :sp ike:

This is my method, too, and it works great... every time. I've had a little bad luck with other methods.
I've been experimenting though and found that the seeds pop and the tap root grows *more slowly* if I wring excess water from the paper towel before putting the seed in and the towel/seed into the baggie.
I've tried a few times to wet the paper towel, then wring it out gently so it's just damp... not so good. Just wet it thoroughly and let it be sopping, in my experience.
(Just like Ldy shows in this tutorial! :D ) Nice tute, btw.

We have a microwave above the oven in the kitchen, where the fan hood goes. We leave that light on as a night light kinda thing so the microwave inside is always at a nice 85-deg or so. So that's where my beans go to pop.
Meanwhile, I pray that my wife won't accidentally nuke them.

This is a much easier way than what I've been doing! I've had good success with my method, but it sounds like this has a high success rate too. I think I'll switch! Thanks to Lady for starting this!

Hey lady,
When you plant them, it looks like you put soil over the whole root with the seed sticking out of the top of the dirt. Do I have this right?
Thanks

yes stickstones you have that right. just take a pencil, or your pinky, and make a little hole in the dirt about 1/2 inch deep, then place the seed gently in the hole with the taproot down. cover it very gently. i cant tell you how many times ive broken the taproot trying to plant them like that, so now i just stick em in the dirt and wait...

Just thought of this question so I thought I'd ask :o
How long CAN these popped beans be kept in the paper towel baggie before they absolutely MUST be planted in a medium? Is there a set length of taproot before they must be planted? Or will they just keep growing until they form the cotyldons (sp?) ??
Thanks, just me pondering
