Cannabis plants found in Dinas Powys

7/8/2008

The concerns of a member of public has lead to the discovery of more than 50 Cannabis plants in the grounds of a water treatment works near Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan

Following the tip off officers from South Wales Police uncovered 52 cannabis plants growing in a concealed part of the works.

It is the second occasion within a week that officers from the Barry Drugs Team have struck a major blow against illegal drugs in the county.

Detective Constable Steve Morgan of Barry Drugs Team said: “Once again South Wales Police has struck a major blow in the fight to keep drugs off the streets of the Vale of Glamorgan. Local residents should be reassured by the fact that the factory was discovered as a result of good police work and the collaboration of concerned members of the public.

“Some people regard Cannabis offences less seriously, but we will continue to take robust action against anyone who is involved in its supply. I hope this brings the message home that production of Cannabis is still illegal and we will continue to investigate offenders and bring them before the courts to face justice.”
