So I'm reading some cannabis news, and I see this piece by the Gaurdian.

(are live news links OK to post?)
The Guardian titled the article:
This volte-face on cannabis is iniquitous and ignorant.
Waffling on about the confusion caused by the Gov, the recent overturning of the Derby canna conspiracy sending people to gaol on trumped up (non-existant) charges etc. etc (yup the got it overturned) ..... but half way in, I nearly had a heart attack....
...Last week also saw the futile attempt to outlaw the sale of cannabis seeds. The government is looking kindly on the 10-minute rule bill sponsored by the Lib Dem MP Tom Brake to make possession of these seeds a serious criminal offence. Brake is worried about the proximity of a headshop in his constituency to a primary school although he could not show any corrupting influence. Again this is law based on outrage and not rational thinking. The MP Paul Flynn, a veteran drugs campaigner, politely pointed out that in making his case, Brake "did not give any evidence of harm".
I had to go rushing to google for the full info
Tom Brake Introduces Ten Minute Rule Bill in Parliament
4.32.30pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 14th Jul 2008
On Wednesday 9th July Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington introduced his Ten Minute Rule Bill: Cannabis Seeds (Prohibition) in the House of Commons.
The bill is a response to the vast number of concerned constituents who contacted Tom about the shop, 'Your High', which legally trades in drugs paraphernalia and cannabis seeds just around the corner from a local primary school in Wallington.
During the debate Mr Brake said: "My purpose today is simple: to prohibit the sale of cannabis seeds. That minor change to the law would send a major message and ensure consistency between the law on the sale of drugs such as cannabis and the law on the sale of cannabis seeds, which help people to grow their own!"
The bill was opposed by Paul Flynn MP who suggested that it should have considered the use of cannabis for medical purposes. Paul Flynn did not press the bill to a vote.
The second reading of the bill is scheduled for Friday 17th October 2008.
So, have the Lib Dems gone completely fuggin mad?
Maybe we should petition for Poppy seeds to become illegal eh  I hope they consulted the hemp oil, clothing, foodstuff, industry....
What about our fuggin MEDICINE Tom? And you a member of amnesty and liberty :sigh: Lets not forget you own party MANEFESTO to decriminalise eh.... wanker.
I can only conclude the Lib Dems have gone comepletely mad to allow this.
