So here is the new indoor setup, its in a closet;) . Im workin with some good space, 5.5 long x 3 wide x 5 feet tall.
Its my first experience with hydro :newbie:
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1817&stc=1&d=1139282201
I made 2 5 gal bubblers, each equiped with a 100 gal pump;) and 2 4 inch wide airstones.
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1820&stc=1&d=1139282201
I dont have my TDS tester yet its in the mail, so i just got some pH adjusted water in there, around 6.5
The two strains i got are K2 x BG x BB;) , and Vietnamese x vietnamese black from spice bros.
heres the K2 x BG x BB
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1818&stc=1&d=1139282201
And heres the vietnamese
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1819&stc=1&d=1139282201
They are under 80 watts floro right now but im probably gonna add another 80, and they are going to bloom under 2 400 HPS's.
Havent got any veg nutes for them yet, just got a old bottle of Canna PK 13/14 which im gonna try for bloom.
They are in just some clay pebbles and i got some 100% silica in there too.
For ventilation i got a little 5 inch fan in there right now blowing 24/7. But like in the next week or so im thinkin to install some 6 inch exhaust ducting with a inline fan and a 12 inch fan blowing from the begining;) , so far i just got the duct and the 12 fan, so i still got to make the hole in the cieling and get the inline fan. Im gonna run the duct thru the lights and out into the attic. And to bring in air into the closet im going to run another piece of duct out thru the door to the room with like a inline fan in there too.
So what you think:shrug: ?
look'n real nice dre.......
them plant's wont need nutes untill the cotys turn yellow, same as soil...
once them roots hit water give em abit of food.....
good luck on ya first hydro grow.....
keep it simple and all will work out

Hey bro, Glad to see another Hydro journal in here.
I started my venture in hydro the same way, with bubblers. I have moved on from bubblers because of the frequency in res. changes but I have considered going back a couple times because of how easy it is and the results I got.
I'll peep in from time to time and put in my 2cents when I can. Any questions just yell man. Someone will have an answer for ya.
Good luck.

Grow on bud and I'll be watching for sure. Be good to compare grows.
By the way, you need some washing powder on them plants :p ;)

Dre, what is going on?? I am gone a month or so to harvest and get through winter, I come back and find that you and Mr. B have gotten all soggy on me. I am going to the soil grow section and I BETTER find your usual assortment of fine plants there.
Oh well, good luck with this too hombre.

I made a switch with the k2 x BGx BB for another vietnamese it was a little taller and i had to lower the plants deeper into the net pot, i had tthem too high earlier:rolleyes: they are working on theyre next set of leaves... still no meter, and pH is around 5.7.
Temps are kinda cool in there though around 70-74 in the day and like 60-65 at night, but i do have a little fan running 24/7 but it slows down at night. I might just start turning it off at night.

Yesterday I changed the water in there, and cleaned the buckets and stones, also had to rinse the netpot and all those stones, which where quite dusty, im gonna try to do it about once a week. When I tested the the ppm before i emptied it, the water was all brown from the clay stone dust, and it tested about 470-490.:hmmmm:
I tested without any nutes in there just new water and it was like 450 in the still water part. when I tested in the bubbles I didnt get an accurate reading, (but its was a much lower number)so i dont think that was the right wayto do it:rolleyes:
I did get some good veg food from my buddy though so i will apply that today.:D Im going to start with about 1/8th dose.
Im not sure what my ppm should be right now? or what it should be after nutes for veg or bloom? :help2:

Well I'd go for a PH of 5.5 and an EC of 1.2 or ppm of 840
It was in the ecoteric video and what I used in the flood and drain set up Dre, and it worked wonders for me.
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1953&stc=1&d=1140042436
The clay dust you should have washed out really. Hole in top and bottom of bag and hose inserted in the top.
Dre does the meter have an EC rate? I was reading today that EC is really the industry standard and PPMs can be misleading. This isn't a critisism but an observation!
By the way Dre, my tap water is 420ppm. 70F is perfection from what I know but whats 1 degree?
dredank
02-15-2006, 03:42 PM
Hey Burns, my pH is around 6.3ish today;) , and my meter does not read EC as far as i know i think its just ppm, i did wash out the claystones before i put them in, for a looong time, the same way as the video, with a hose like. untill the water that came out the bottom was basically drinkable:p it just made some more dust, they are still new and i guess thats okay:rolleyes:
My tap water is like 470-480 ppm.:o
Thanks for stoppin by BURNS, your roots look great man2thumbs

For nutes i have added a little recently just 1/4tsp micro, ~1/8tsp of gro, and like a few drops of the bloom:p ppm yesterday was still 570,
ppm now is 580 on the OGRE and 560 on the HOG im wating untill its drops 50 ppm to reboost.

pH is about 6 on both i didnt chnage it but i might drop it abit tonight, or for sure tomorrow morning
And there is still curling on the edges on the already affected leaves of THE HOG, doesnt look to really be spreading,
and i check my pH a few minutes after adding the last of my nutes, but when you add each indiviual nute, you have to take about 5 minutes inbetwwen nutes so they can fully dissolve or else you might get nuck lock up:(

this is only for your resevoir tank in your hydro set up that u are talkin about, rite? i mean u don t wait 5 mins in between nutes say when your mixing the water(which is mixed with nutes) gallon size that one uses to feed their plants.
hope that makes sense. i mean when i mix my water with nutes( water being used to feed plants) all i do is poor nute, shake well, poor nutes, shake well, then repeat one more time. i dont have the 5min period.
EDIT:
yeah , just checked it out mann. its floramicro, then grow, then the bloom. not sure if u just mistyped that but if not i think u mite seriously be causing nutrient lockout and not giving your plants all the minerals they need. simply noting. peace.

yo dre looking good pal...how they doing?
say dre...been doing abit of reading about and that leaf curl looks like magnesium deficiency.maybe let ya ph drift to 5.8-6.0 for a few days so it can take more mag up(shows in that ph chart that mag is taken up at 5.8;) )...if it stops the leaf curl then ya know ya on the money.;)
dont quote me on that.....im new at all this water lark to...my fingers are all wrinckled to fuck:rolleyes:
maybe sombody can put me right/wrong ;)
all the best

thanks for the info cranky;) i think you might be right about the magnesium decifiancy, when the pH is higher up around 7.9+ it curls, but lower pH has less curling.
And the plants are doing good still vegging, im just tying them down more.
im thinking about flowering them under floros,
anyone know what wattage of floros would be needed to produce a good yield?
thanks

hey cranky:D i just started bloomin them, they are still under floros like 120 watts im thinking about just keeping them under floros, i can put a 400 watt hps but i would have to make an exhaust and would be pretty costly so im thining it would be cheaper just to use some floros but how much would my yield suffer?
and what does of nutes should i start with flowering? theye roots began to to a bit brown again when added nutes so right now i have been using just water for about a week they seem to have been liking it.

you bro,not sure to how much ppm you should start at for flowering..i thought ya just kepp adding 100ppm each time they drunk 50 so what ever you were in on veg just carry it on into flower like?
best check with somebody with a bubbler grow under thier belt first though...im new to this shit to like;)
as for ya roots..you say ya got the light leeks sorted.....what nutes ya useing bro?some make the roots change colour..other wise the only thing i can think of is lack of air bubbles which it dont look like ya got or res temps are getting to high?
fuck...sorry bro,i dont know puf puf passs :share:
just throwing a few thinking clouds at yas like;)
i wanna see some pics:p

I know i've said this before, but my 400 doesnt get that hot. I've got it in a closet like you, no exhaust, and just a regular oscilating house fan that doesnt oscilate.
The only time it gets real hot and uncomfortable in there is when i don't get to open the closet that day. If you open that closet up in the middle of your 12/12.. or maybe two times throughout the lights on period, (at least for me) it doesnt get too hot. Hell, i've let my plants grow within 5 inches of that light, and 5 is being a generous number.
just my 2 pennies.

thanks cranky, i fixed the leak. and just been feeding them pH'd water like. it seems whenever i feed they end up with colored roots:(
gorilla i added the 400 today and it got pretty hot so i think im just gonna have to move locations to a bigger space...garage;)
but i would like to put them into soil to flower, im not really feeling this hydro thing:o im thinking of just filling the bucket with rich moist soil maybe more on the clay side to keep the roots wet, and just keeping the plant in the netpot like. anyone think this can work?
peace
it seems whenever i feed they end up with colored roots:(
my roots allways turn brown dre...
if ya soak em in shit they are bound to have a shit stain ;)
doesnt mean a thing

Hey cb thanks bro;)
well i transplanted them into soil we'll see if they live:rolleyes: i made the new space in the garage with 1 400 hps and the 2 plants are recovering under the sun.
i filled up the pot wiht soil then laid in the roots adding soil around them then added soil to th etop of the netpot and flooded it with water, i hope they live

thanks trip, i just had some ogre from one of the medi clubs around here and it was like a very light yellow color ill try to get a pic up here but very dank spicy weed, im excited to see how mine will turn out. i moved both plants from hydro to soil about 6 days ago and they have been recovering till now, i got the ogre under the light on 12/12 and the HOG is still in 24 dark and has been for about 6 days. when i put the plants under the light before they were winting and looking near death and in the dark they with looking perfect so i just left em in the dark and now they are better:D ill post up some pics soon

sounds nice dre next time you try the bubbler try fox farms i beleave there nutes are ph stable meaning its harder for the ph to swing since your in soil now i'd add some lime it will help keep the ph stable there's a pic of the kind i use in any of my grow dairies
by the way how does those cali strain taste i've heard of them but never wanted to spend that much money for the seeds oh and heres a pic with the lime i use
