IMO Morgan Tsvangirai did the correct thing in stepping down to reduce the amount of violence against his supporters.
The G8 have done the usual big brother BS and put in trade and financial sanctions. Not enough IMO :(
Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia & for heavens above South Africa should be doing more right now. Malawi hasn't the clout that other neighbours have regarding political pressure, but you'd have thought that these countries could make their presence known to the wider world and maybe even cash in a little by making a stand against mugabe? (No capital letters for that bastards name). Also, considering the high percentage of African countries led by military coups, uniquely, Zimbabwe is land locked by democratically elected governments :2cents: (If democracy, governments & Africa can be used in the same text :hmmmm: )
Lets also not forget the ship laden with arms bound for Zimbabwe pre elections (cough) from China that was only turned around by political negotiations between the west and China. I'm not sure what deal was cut with the Chinese but wouldn't it have been more prudent for land locked Zimbabwe's neighbouring countries to have struck a deal with the west in banning the transit of arms to Zimbabwe  I can only imagine how amused the Chinese government were that a troubled African country with a lit fuse handed them either political clout or a handsome pay day
Any thoughts?
