This is my first run using Ebb & Flo, 600w HPS. Nutrient is by General Hydroponics.
I've been up and running for 3 weeks .
I'm having a hard time finding a PH kit that tests low enough,,,I,ve been using Phenol Red with no color chart and shooting for a Yellow test color for my nutrient pH.
Think I'll try a soil tester, until I find a wide range test kit.
Out of 10 plants...One plant's leaves have inconsistent green coloration, is this one plant sick and in need of care? -or- should I trash it for fear of disease. I listed a pic of this plant
I also have 2 plants with leaves edges curling inward.... would this be due to improper pH?
I have 2 strains and one strain has produced deformed leaves... is this any reason to be concerned?

I'm thinking high nitrogen/ferts myself. Wait for the others to chime in as they know a lot more than me. :D
need a piccy with HPS light off
or you can turn a flashlight on the plant and then take a picture.

Here are normal light pics.
I water 3 times a day... light is 19" from tops of plant.
Temp stays near 77' / 82' degrees, humidity 47% to 50%

Before this thread gets moved to the 'out of date lettuce' section, that's one unhappy plant :watch:
To me it looks either far too much humidity or/and having feeding times far too frequent - infrequent :2cents:

Petco has a mid range PH indicator for around $4. (aquarium section) It's target range in from 6.2-7.4. If I was using this tester and it came up yellow it would indicate PH in the low 5's.
I hope you get whatever it is locked down.:o

Ebb-n-flo hey,I havent ran that type before, but hydro is hydro i guess.
I'm thinking high nitrogen/ferts myself
Im leaning towards Ph,but that could be caused by not mixing the 3 parts correctly.mixed to hot they will burn and claw,to little and they eat thereself.but mixing the ferts wrong will cause your Ph to fall out to way below lock out and thats were i think your at.Id dump my nutes and start over, making sure the Ph is right and remains there.Hydro likes Ph between mid 5's and low 6's.so those test strips will only measure the high end.So shoot for 6,just a little lighter than its lowest shade should be good.If you can swing the cash you would be money ahead to buy a meter.HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/HANNA-HI-98103-Pocket-pH-Tester-Meter-Checker-1-HI98103_W0QQitemZ300232380676QQihZ020QQcategoryZ42 291QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)is a cheap one,but hey better than nothing i always say.

I have to give a plug to my Milwaukee SM100 ph meter, $110 at the local hydro store, checked at 30 days and 60 days, still right on, at 90 days 4.0 still good, 7.0 had to be calibrated from 7.1. Pretty good reliability for a hundred dollar bill, IMO.

what is your ph running?

My local Science store gladly raked me over the coals for a PH meter and the supporting chemicals.
Some how I made it home without calibration solution... so for now I am within 2 points of the pH I set the nutt at... which is 5.7
I took a chance and put the plants in the rain for a flush, as the weather offered this chance... and with good results,,, all the plants looked healthy with in hours.
after the last three feedings, I still see some burning.
I have lowered the Nitrogen considerable, as the feeding chart calls for... after the last three feedings, I still see some signs of burning in the lower leaves. most likely from last nutt batch.... new leaves look fine.
Was one flush enough? Should I flush again? -or- Go ahead and let it run for a few days and watch closely.
Its not gonna rain again any time soon.

hmmmm. what are your temps and humidity running? The leaf edges are turned up - usually a sign of high transpiration due to high heat or low humidity. IF your plants are transpiring too much, they will suck up the nute solutions very quickly, causing burn. I would lower the ppm's a bit and see how they do

The temp stays between 77 & 82
Humidity stays between 44% and 50%
Strong fan to blow colder air into room, and simulate wind.
no ppm meter,,,, Add water & correct pH?

As CB said the old burned leaves wont heal. They stay the same or die off. If the new growth looks fine then you corrected it IMO.

25 gal tank for E&F system
Strong fan to blow colder air into room, and simulate wind.
The Leaves still look a bit like the tips are edging upward,
no ppm meter yet,,, at this point, should I add water and lower the ppm?
Just found signs of burning in upper leaves :(
Water flush only tonight
Seeking advice.

Thats sad:( maybe you should sit your mum down and explain to her that now you will have to buy from illicit sources that will put your liberty and health at risk she may relent and your ban lifted ;here's to understanding.
