Well, I guess I should start a thread, instead of barging about in other's, apologies to anyone I annoyed while I was figuring out the site.:) Very nice site you have here, it came highly recommended by a friend. In return for a small sum, I have agreed not to mention his name in case I should prove unpopular.

HEY, it's spring, a good time to start an outdoor journal. I have 24 Texada Timewarp out in the swamps where I live, plus 4 White Russians. I know the WR are iffy finishers at my latitude, but I love them so much, I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained. I may or may not be able to show some pics, as I only visit them at night, and it's so flat here that a flash going off could be visible a long way off, though in reality IDK who would be around to see it, so maybe. I kept 6 of my best stock for a small grow in a former chicken/duck/goat-pen/corral, so I'm thinking after 10 years, it's pretty rich soil (not too acid, I hope, it's had a couple year's rest).
Dynamite, the one surviving clone of 5 a friend sent me. (note to self-read AUP). Never grown it before, should finish in time here(Oct 1, I was told).

And another Nebula, pheno #2

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15477&stc=1&d=1212624542

They're all being LST'd, last year the ones I grew in my garden reached 12' before I tied them down, the 2 Sativa pheno's would have probably hit 14'. One of these days I'll post a pic, but I've used my allotted 5 already this post.

Last, and actually least, one of 7 Texada Timewarp clone mothers. TT is a semi autoflower for Northern climes, once it goes into flower there's no coming back, even under 24/7. I started original clone moms Jan 1st, a mistake that caused me many grey hairs, these are second generation, the ones I put outside are 3rd, I had a hell of a time cloning from these just to get the 3rd gen. These will just bud continuously all summer, I had one do this that was less than 24" tall, yet 8" in diameter, but all bud, no fan leaves or anything, yielded almost a 1/4 lb. Downside is it didn't have a lot of potency, I imagine because a large percentage of the bud was formed months ago, and the wind and the rain and the sun took it's toll. I just don't have it in me to trash a plant, I'm a softy, I palmed 4 of them off on a friend for lawn ornaments, the other 3 I guess I will do the same with. It will be good weed to give away to friends, I'm sure it will be better than any of the 40$ 1/4 schwag that goes around here. (note-tripps, you really need to read AUP).

Tripps have you tried the WR outdoors before? Its something I never tried but I wish I had.
You know, I also hit a good WR pheno but I wonder how much of this is due to Serious Seeds good breeding? Perhaps they're all fantastic and of what turns female you have a 50/50 of hitting a good one? It just seems strange but good that some of us hit the lottery with just one pack?
Then again, SS concentrate on a very limited strain base which speaks volumes. Far better to concentrate on improving 5 strains than a catalogue of copy strains, do you think?

I promised no big plants in the garden this year so the queen could sit with friends in the gardens yacking about the price of nail varnish.
Bollox to nail varnish. I've got an idea :D

Keep us up on progress buddy :)

Hi folks. Burnsy, I never tried WR outdoors, pretty iffy in a GG, but in the home garden I can always cover for frost.

Well, I thought it would be interesting to post about something I learned on the internet, and saw illustrated in real life. A couple years ago I had a problem with cutworms in my garden, they were eating my peppers and tomatos at an alarming clip. I researched them on the internet, and found they only come out at night. Not wanting to spray ineffective pesticides all over my garden, I got a couple of my 1000w halogen shoplights out and made my garden like daylight 24/7 for a week or so, till the plants were big enough to be safe. The neighbors thought we were calling in aliens, LOL, but it worked.

One of the things they said in the article I found was that most domestically grown plants are not native to the area they are grown, and aside from the occasional transplanted pest, our plants are not their diet of choice, but they adapt. It is the fairly modern desire for a perfect, weed free garden that causes the problems, they advised leaving some weeds, at least til the plants were big enough to not be wiped out by a single insect.

I can't identify the weed or the pest, but look how the weeds look like Swiss Cheese, but my plants are untouched.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15586&stc=1&d=1213317609

Naturally, to make me a liar, and ruin my allegory, the next day I saw where some kind of webworm took a liking to my plant. LOL I just pinched off the affected shoot, and crushed it underfoot.

Hi everyone, how are y'all? Burnsy, re one of your earlier comments, I got 2 females out of my original 4 or 5 I popped, I have to say they were indisiguishable from one another. I only flowered a couple, and I couldn't tell 'em apart if it wasn't for the labels, I forgot I even had 'em till I was moving and rotating(god, I'll hate to give that up for hydro LOL) pots. Must be good breeding. In wonder what my seeds I made will do, for some reason I'm thinking WR is a F-1 cross of WW and AK_47, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's a stabilized strain. Have to look that up one of these days, it makes a huge difference as to what the seeds will throw out, as you know.

Update on my outdoor girls, I took a few clones off for a friend, and retied them down, one of these days I'll have to post a pic of the little corral, in plain site, and innocent as hell, I left enough weeds that you'd have to look twice to see them.

The WR, they're vigorous growers, if anyone is going to make it get crowded in here, it's this plant

Well just a couple pics. This spring started like all last summer went, dry, dry, dry. The weather pattern seems to mave finally changed, LOL, now it's rain every day, twice on Sundays. Remarkable how plants seem to surge in growth after a rain, I don't care if you're watering them 5 gallons a day, they seem to somehow "sense" real rain, don't ask me how, but in the three days I've been gone, all rainy, they have practically doubled in size. First pic Dynamite, second WR, I took one of the Nebula too, but I don't know what happened to it, wasn't in the camera.

It's been 3 weeks since I visited my GG plants, this weekend I'll go out with some #9 wire, with the top bent into a hook, like a cane, and hook the plant and push the other end into the soil, to bend them over. Maybe a little fert, too. Speaking of which, my corral plants look like they want some too, prob hit them with some of my Earth Juice nutes I have sitting on a shelf, just to use them up.

Well, I set out to visit my GG last night, as our weather always comes from the West, I felt a pretty spectacular thunderstorm was passing well South of us. Well I realized it was heading due North, and barely made it back in time! Try again tonight.

Well I cleaned out another old goat/duck pen and planted the last few odd plants I had. A couple TT clone moms merrily flowering and vegging away at the same time, should be interesting. Plus a clone of an unknown strain from a friend, and a White Rhino, but from seed, sex unknown, from another friend.
(watch 'em boys) Nice and innocent behind my vegetable garden, nothing like hiding in plain sight.

Well, I visited my GG Saturday night, after a 3 week absence, was pretty disappointed. I started my TT mom Jan 1, and the pheno I picked, for early flowering, seems to have really strong autoflower traits. Mom started flowering under 24/7, she grew, but with 3-4 pistals at every internode. The clones rooted and grew, but with an awful lot of hair. My plants have been out 5 weeks, plus 2 vegging, and 2 rooting, but they aren't doing well. At only half vegging growth, they didn't get tall enough to compete very well with the native growth, further exacerbating the problem, I think, ie getting shaded out. I cleared around them good, and gave them some ferts, but I don't think I'll get much off them. Pretty funny, I went out with some #9 wire, thinking I was gonna have to tie them down, I couldn't even find some of them, they were so puny, and overgrown by the surrounding plants. We'll see if I done any good this weekend, but I don't have a lot of hope. 3 of 4 WR I planted were doing well, about 24", the other was snapped or bit off, but still had good lower leaves, if they finish they will be my salvation. Was too pissed to remember to take pics of them. Couple shots of my runts, the first is actually the biggest I found LOL. Next year I'll start my moms in March.

I also didn't give them any initial ferts, as the TTs seemed to overnute even at 1/2 strength I used for other plants, but I'm gonna try giving them more, I think it's hard to overnute outdoors. Sprayed all plants with capsaicin based critter ridder.

Edit, lost my pruning shears out there, now I see where they went, LOL , if I can remember which one I was photographing.

Actually, it was overcast, but there were more fireflies than I've ever seen in my life out in the swamps tonight. I tried a picture, knowing it wouldn't work, and even if it did, a snapshot in time would never capture the beauty of the millions of tiny blinking lights. It was just a unique moment, something you would never see if you weren't a grower. No sane person would go out there at night, think about it, the mosquitos and bugs are so thick that you have to make an effort not to breathe them in. Just beautiful, I tried some video too, but haven't checked it yet.

Well, my TT's are flowering away, but growing taller, I gave them all water, but didn't bother with the critter ridder, since it's only been a week, with not rain. Damned if one I fed last week isn't gone, ate off, and with a fresh spray on it too. In the old days I used to dump used kitty litter around them, the cat smell must have worked. This is my first year trying critter ridder, and I've lost more than ever, so maybe my old low tech way was better.

Really never seen anything like the growth rate I'm getting here, must be the years of decomposing animal manure. These have just been freshly LST'd, they've almost doubled in size since last weekend. My neighbor marvels at how they are hidden in plain sight, as he said, you can look right at them, and they don't register as MJ plants, killing that Christmas tree shape is the key. 3 Nebula on the left, closest to barn, 2 different phenos. Row away from barn, Dynamite upper right, 2 closer plants both White Russians.

Anyome recognize this pest? Just a few leaves on a few plants, so far. Definitely something that eats the soft underside of leaves, doesn't eat edges or through the leaves, but a couple have holes due to the affected tissue dieing. Looks like the spots I had from spidermites, but much larger. I'll pick up some neem, just curious as to what it is, nothing visible, maybe some predator ate 'em already.:D

I figured that part out, just teasing Burnsy a little,I wasn't sure what he meant by "what it's amongst", just random weeds, something eats holes right through the weeds, as you can see in the pics, but none of the weeds show anything like the spots on the MJ. Well, I took a ride Sunday and visited a couple friends grows that I gave clones to this spring, thought I'd post a couple pics. First 2 are at Sasquatch's, first pic is a couple Texada Timewarps, a little lanky, spot was picked more for stealth than good lighting, but they should yield some bud. Second is a White Russian, taken about 10:00 am, gets full sun from here on out for the rest of the day. The rock monument should come in handy for support if he has to cover for frost in the fall.

This last one, talk about the luck of the Irish, Rhino took some seedlings last year, unsexed, and grew them out on a picnic table here. Didn't catch the males in time, and got a few seeds. A seed must have fallen off the table, survived the harsh WNY winter, a couple dozen freeze thaw cycles, at least, and spontaneously sprouted. Looks like it's showing a few hairs, a female, no less. Funny thing is, Rhino doesn't smoke, just likes to grow it, gives most of it away.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=16152&stc=1&d=1215532340

Most of the guys in my club are pretty big boys, Rhino included, my boss's kid was out to the club one time, asked me how come he's called Rhino? I told him "piss him off, you might get to find out" LOL Funny thing is Rhino catches houseflies and lets them go outside, a true softy. LOL

Maybe you could get some seeds from the winter survivor and try to breed a WNY hybrid that it's seeds can make it through a winter. Would be great to have a natural WNY version that can grown here and have it's off spring make another grow the following spring. :D

Mr Burns

Tisn't whitefly unless you have another version over there. I've a plum tree that's just dropped all its fruit to a whitefly invasion and they fold leaves inwards and lay their eggs inside the closed leaf. Kinda like a weatherproof nursery.

I can't tell you what insect it is (although probably a moth) but I'm 99.9% sure that 'shell' appearance on the leaves is where the mother insect laid its eggs under the leaf surface. When the eggs hatch the little ones have a ready meal of chlorophyll to get them on their way before taking flight or walking off on many legs ;)

Try getting out there at night with a torch tripps and shake one of the plants. You might see what appears to be midges taking flight around the plant if an airborn hatching. If it were a crawler they should be on the under side of the leaf and could be tapped into a vascular. If its over then you'll see nowt of course ;)

Funny how I can get it together without a beer in my hand :)

Oh and go easy on the powder puff or they'll hermie

Thanks, Burnsy, yup, scales is exactly what it looks like. Nothing major, just a couple leaves on each plant, but I might try looking at night, at that, if you remember my cutworm story. Buggers only come out at night, so I hooked up a couple 1000w halogen shoplights, and shined them on my garden at night so it was light 24/7. Neighbors already thought we were crazy, that cinched it, but it let my peppers and tomatoes get big enough that they were safe.

Oh, re the WNY strain, they were kinda late finishers, but monsters, maybe crossed with a TT???

07-17-2008, 08:56 AM
Well, I'm kinda afraid to fertilize these things, we've already lost 2 cats that wandered into there, and the other day I got too close, and felt a tendrill wrapping about my leg. (Oh, wait, that was Burnsy, wasn't it)

I actually did give them a dose finally last weekend, 2 gallons of GH reg strength, amongst 12 plants, not much, hard to tell how they took it. I never imagined in a million years that 6 plants would completely fill an 8' X 15' pen, but every plant is touching now. I deliberately set them back what I thiught was far enough back from the barn to be out of the dripline from the roof, but they are edging pretty close. I have a 20' length of gutter in the barn, before flowering I will install it, witha rain barrel for watering to boot.

Hi folks, a few GG pics. Ha, I read they found 150 plants out in the swamps this week, those are the guys that get caught, making it look like a dam farmers field. A couple dozen plants, spread out in a hedgerow, 10-15 feet apart, you could walk within 10' of my plants and never notice. As San would say, less is more! LOL TG, there's some space in the corners of the plants, and along the barn, but I'd say they're near 15 sf a plant. Biggest I've ever grown.
Well, if you remember, I'm in a raspberry hedgerow, it was a hot muggy night, went out in shorts and short sleeves, won't do that again. Mosquitos were biting so hard, I didn't even notice the scratches til I got home.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=16335&stc=1&d=1216433651

Odd, a lot were bent over, almost like an animal had lain on it, and they were just getting up again. Never seen the likes, don't really have an explanation, actually was one TT and 2 or 3 WR. You can see how the tip was bending to grow in an upward direction again. Second pic, I think, some bug ate a lot of leaves, but it'll come back

You guys are probably right, the clearing space is perfect size for a deer bed. Don't want to put cages or anything up that would catch anyone's eye, right now you'd walk on by. Meant to get some coyote piss this year, and forgot, have too look into it. Critter Ridder seems to be working, at least they aren't eating them.

Group shot, maybe the fertilizer did make a difference, doubled in total mass in a week, I'd say, going up now as there's no out left.

A White Rhino, female! I almost hope now that the White Rhino I have in the ground is male, as I could do a seed run. It's a big plant though, it'd prob yield a 1/2 lb as a female, so I'm not wishing too hard, LOL.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=16634&stc=1&d=1217723311

I may have LST'd a little to aggressively on the W Rhino, snapped the main stem, but only one side broke, crazy plant never missed a beat.

Neat sea of green pic, I thought, a shot looking over the main pen.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=16636&stc=1&d=1217723311

Last but not least, a group photo. All the LSTing and stuff I did, I think the darmn things are still gonna hit at least 6-8 feet in height, I hate to top anything, as in my experience most plants will only produce a certain maximum amount of good colas, and I think I'm pretty close to the limit already with these.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=16637&stc=1&d=1217723311

Hard to believe, one of the TTs that has been flowering endlessly all summer had mold. Moldy buds, outdoors, in July? That's a first. It's putting out some vegetative growth, though, they will be the good buds. Maybe a pic later in the week.

Well, the screen went on my laptop, took some pics, loaded them into my desktop everyone else in the family says doesn't work. All set to post, the thing starded knocking, threw a rod right through the top of the case! Now I'm on my daughter's laptop she doesn't use, "cause it's junky", LOL, works fine, unfortunately windows editor doesn't seem to exist on it, keeps opening to edit in paint. Can't find a setting to resize in paint, and can't find a way to open it in the Windows picture editor, or whatever the actual name of the program it was on both my laptop and desktop that always opened them for editing. So no pics till I get another laptop, or someone tells me how to edit differently. Can't even find a way to print to file, to try messing with it. Shoulda went to college instead of work, I guess.

Thanks CB, I remember that now that you mentioned it. Actually, I found an easier way, then screwed it up. I set the camera for 640 x whateever it was, didn't realize the camera didn't save the setting, you had to reset everytime you turned it back on. So I took more big pics. LOL Well, my time home is short, and the nights in Corning long, I'll take these along in the computer, give me something to do down there. Can't believe I didn't mention it last post, I put a 35' gutter up by myself on the barn this morning ( F*ck, the things I've done alone in my life, LOL). I tried to plant them well out of the dripline, but they got so big they were grown into it, I was afraid of mold, so I added a gutter and downspout to a rain barrel, now I can give 'em the water when I want to, not when God wants to, LOL. The hard part wasn't necessarily putting up the gutter, but moving an extension ladder, partially extended, cuz of a standoff I had attached, through those MJ plants without destroying anything, now that was a chore. I'm pissed, I had some good pics of the process, you wouldn't have believed I could get that ladder in the middle of them plants, but it was downloaded to the desktop, by the noises that was making, it'll never run again. LOL Only a couple minor branches bent, should recover, pretty proud of myself for an old man. My laptop, even if I don't fix the screen, it runs, I think I can pull my pics off with a firewire.

Sorry to hear about the computer. Glad to see you figured out how to upload pics!

BTW, check out Greencure for mold remediation. It's potassium bicarbonate, and it affects fungi on the cellular level. It's also non-toxic, and safe for use up until harvest!

Thanks, guys, I'm taking it into town tonight, have my daughter's laptop now. Gonna stop by my buddies and see if he can pull my MJ pics off, this guy has worked on my compuer before with pics on it. My bosses wouldn't care, but I don't need some zealot calling the cops. Doesn't seem like the type, but you never know. Noticed the wireless card doesn't show power, so, though I will try my PC monitor at home, I suspect it's more than that.

A few GG pics, check out the first three TT pics, damn, talk about early flowering, these pics are August 16th. 4th one I thought was WR, but now IDK, nothing else flowering that fast. 5th is definitely WR.

Damn deer keep walking on them, the Critter Ridder seems to work to prevent them eating them, but I've inadvertantly created trails for them through the hedgerow, the path of least resistance. Leery of putting it on the TTs anymore, close to harvest, don't want hot pepper weed, LOL.

My potted ones got crowded out in the second corral, just on the lawn, don't know what else to do with them. W Rhino in right foreground, TT, super slow pheno, no hair even yet, in right rear, both got another bushmaster. A potted plant shot, W Rhino in front center was stretching bad, got a second dose of bushmaster, the rest just water. NL X W Rhino and Durga Matta not showing sex yet. Durga Matta looking male, with my eyes and track record, probably means it's female, LOL.

My, oh my, how the mighty have fallen. 10 years ago my dog, Sadie, and I coulda whipped our weight in wildcats, and gone out for a beer after. The poor old girl limps as bad as I do, but she'd rather have teeth pulled than miss a trip out to the plants. The one problem I've had from this Texada Timewarp pheno is weak stems. They're not even half way flowered and they can't stand up. A couple buddies with clones report the same. Tomato cages next week for 5 or 6. Amazing bud developement for August, I'd be surprised if they weren't done by Sept 10. First 2 TT, the second ones leaves are showing the underside because I had to hold it up with my toe for a pic, it was laying down, third one W Russian for sure, last one suspected W Russian, something triggered an early flower in it. Man, had my digital camera stolen out of my trailer at work, got a new one, dropped it in the bucket of water I was watering with. Download pics fine, but I was going to add a pic of Sadie, when I turned the camera on, the field of view was just a murky green. My boss will love it when I tell him I have to buy another. :rotf:

The potted plants my buddy brought over have all been transplanted up to 5 gallon containers, except the Durga Matta that is male and a little runt Texada Timewarp female, they got overgrown in the pen, I'm not thrilled about them sitting there out in the open, but whatta ya gonna do, they get twice the direct sun my penned plants get. I'm thinking of putting the DM and the TT in the downwind corner of my property to make seed, but I'll be pissed if a contrary wind seeds the rest, IDK

So much for stealth. :rotf: I thought my little corral, plus some tomato plants in front that were supposed to grow large, plus my LSTing and Bushmastering would keep them small. Never dreamed they'd get so huge, for you latecomers, that's just 6 plants in the back pen. Now the darn things are bursting out the sides, too. Plainly visible from the road, my only friend now is distance, and the fact that few if any could focus on them and identify them at 60 mph. (realistically, even standing still at that distance, I don't think you'd identify them. Hate to be wrong about that though.) 6 or so weeks of sweating it out, now. Like my daughters who have their own apartment and still won't leave home, LOL, I must be treating them too nice.

I'll post some night shots of my GG plants tonight, plus the ones in 5 gal buckets I forgot to shoot.

Some night shots, 2 Texada Timewarp, and a big (out of focus ) W Russian. I had to put tomato cages around them, the TT's, I think due to the fact that they were kinda revegged, sorta, can't hold themselves up. They were laying right on the ground, plus there's one a damn deer keeps laying on, thank god MJ is known for it's fibrous stems, seemed all right, that one got some extra water. The swamps are drying up, as they always do in the fall. My spot where I dip water is getting shallower, I used to be able to dip up to 3/4 of a bucket, use one to top off the other, then even them out to get 7/8 in each. Now I can only dip 1/4, top off the one, and even them up to 5/8 each. With the plants getting bigger, I had to make a second trip, plus I didn't have enough cages, had to go back to the house for more. I only carry my water 1/4 mile, but with the second trip, my knees kept me awake all night last night, even with a judicious application of White Russian. Sadie even opted out of the second trip, her legs are as bad as mine, she could only take the one trip. I'd say 2 more weeks on the TTs, hope the tomato cages aren't spotted, at least I got some old ones from a friend, nice and Rusty, not galvanized like newer ones.

Another pen shot, plus one of the bucket girls. The Durga Matta is female! I took 2 cuts off the bottom, IDK if they'll catch up to run with the others, but I can at least keep a mom, maybe if they both take I'll run the other just to try the smoke, even if it's smaller. Both the Rhino in the bucket and the one in the ground show considerable stretch, none of my others I've grown do, I'll probably have to LST a little when I flower to keep the canopy even.

Well, I did the obvious, I added back a couple of the boards I took off to give them more sun when they were little. Sacrifice a little bit of direct sun, but like the zebra's stripes, all you need to do is break up the outline. If they weren't too noticeable before, now I'm golden. Set them about at bud height, they still get that midday overhead sun. Pic taken about 3:15, still getting dappled through the walnut tree. Walnuts are the first tree around here to drop leaves, and the last to grow them. Never noticed the exact date, but I bet it's in time to give them some last extra sun to finish.

Took shots and labeled them of each plant, surprisingly, the W Russ and Nebula are ahead of the Dynamite, even the TT from seed, though that's an oddball, super slow freak. You can see the stretch in the W Rhino, too, only one that really did, the container plant did it too. And of course my TT#3 clone is way ahead of everything, except my GG TT#3's, they're almost done. Plan on going out with pruners in 2 weeks, probably won't visit til then. A really hard thing to decide, when to harvest outdoor plants, just because of the bird in the hand theory. Hate to wait an extra week and lose all.

Thanks all for stopping by, and the kind comments. Wow, what a difference since my last post. God, these things have become monsters, I had no idea when I planted them that they could possibly get this big. My aim was primarily to keep a mom going for indoor clones in the fall. Pictures really don't do them justice. In the picture from the backside, the closest plant, a Dynamite, in the corner, is probably 7' x 7' x 7', that's almost 350 cubic feet, that's more than my entire grow room, wall to wall, floor to ceiling. Couldn't even begin to guess at the yield, hoping the weather cooperates and nobody spots them. Not much room for air circulation, but the weather patterns semed to have changed for the better. All I need is a late fall, I'm sure I won't get any amber,:D , but the White Russian and Nebula are doing way better outdoors than I expected, if I can make Oct 15 I should be golden. You can tell the White Rhino in the last pic, only one that really stretched, kinda Sativa looking in the bud formation. First 2 bud shots are White Russians. These are pretty much all with no nutrients except what was in the ground from the livestock, the funniest part of all!

Gotta be a record 'round here, Sept 10, my perpetually flowering GG Texada Timewarp #3 were close enough. The wildlife refuge guys have been real active, watched one today drive within 10' of my plants. They could have used another week, but they were sticky, stinky, and the pistals were all brown, figured a bird in the hand. Have 5 or 6 more that were real branchy, not done yet, but I think I made the right call, these were dense indica type budsicles, a buddy has some less far along, told me he had a little mold. Caught these just in time, just a few popcorn buds were moldy, the stuff closest to the ground, all the main colas were good. Lost and found.
Found and lost
Checked my remaining GG plants, 3 big bushes, W Russians, need a couple more weeks at least, no sign of mold, though, so I left them.

One of the pitfalls of night visits, always seemed I should have had a couple more. Last night I found a big WR that's been forgotten since planting, or shortly after. Nice big plant, never got water or nutes, and was kinda overgrown. Put 4 tomato cages around it after I cleared a little. On closer inspection, MOLD. Bummer, just a cluster here and there, but well distributed. With 4 days of 80, 90, or 100% rain in the forecast, I reluctantly chopped it. I'm sure it's cause it was overgrown, less air circulation plus less sun. Better a little than nothing, couple ounces of premature popcorn, and an ounce or less of hash oil material. Coulda been a contender, too bad. Mighty sticky though, got half a marble of finger hash, I'm curious how potent it will be, 2-3 weeks early.

Great pics Dude. ;)

I think one of the things that strikes me the most in your journal is seeing mj growing outside in sunlight, having only really ever seen it growing indoors under fake light. :) I mentioned it at the beginning but it kinda looks surreal to me. :D

Another thing is the colour... it's actually quite a distinctive, quite light, very even green. Since they're in open soil and getting no less or more than the nutes they want, I think it's safe to assume that's how mj "should" and wants to be "naturally"... It makes me think that I must continually over-feed mine. :confused .... and considering big over-feeding is just as harmful to yield as big under-feeding, I'm gonna back off the nutes. ;)

Thanks for continuing my education Fella. 2thumbs

Well, I harvested the rest of my GG plants, all W Russians left, the mold was setting in. Mostly just a little here and there, just one main branch that laid down was completely trashed. Probably lost an ounce out of about a pound, and they could have used another week or so, but can't complain I guess. Had to take the top inch off the main cola on a Nebula, one of half a dozen in 5 gallon buckets, but everything else in the pails looks good.

Well, Sunday morning was wet, foggy, drizzled all day, and Monday was another wet, foggy, drippy morning, not liking that at all. But it was preceeded by a week of sunshine, and now there's another week of sunshine in the forecast, can't complain about that. Went over my pen plants with a fine tooth comb, only found 4 or 5 small flower clusters, all low and widely scattered, that showed a little mold. Being as overcrowded as they are, it's a miracle, but I think I got lucky in that the pen plants started flowering a week or 2 after my GG plants, they waited til the local weather pattern changed completely, the rain stopped like someone threw a switch, :rotf:. You know what they say, better to be lucky than good. :D

Couple shots, only thing better than a sea of green, is a sea of green 25' long by 8' wide and 7' tall. :D

A couple more weeks with no mold, no cops, and no rippers, and you won't be able to scrape the shit eating grin off my face with a shovel. Better exercise your scissor fingers, Cy, I'll be needing you, I think.

Exercised them today on a starting to get mold Nebula. I'm ready just say the word and I'm there with the hedge trimmer! :D

man oh man they look great in that pen Tripps... here's hoping that Mother Nature continues to look over that garden! :2thumbs:

I'll bet your little trimming fingers are already getting a work out. I'm so busy worrying about humidity that I've not gotten to the dreaded fear of trimming.

Thinking about joining a movie rental web place so I can stay occupied while all that sitting.

Let's not go there yet, ok....

Take care...

Peace- OD

Cezar! where were you at the trim party? Cy and I worked our fingers to the bone for almost 10 hours last night, and we only smoked 1/2 a joint all night, because you weren't there to be in charge of the smoking, I'm embarassed to say. Worked about 14 hours last Sunday, the wife helped about half that time. I'd say they are 2/3 in, that was all for the 6 plants in the back pen, had to be a pound and a half per plant average, all done except some lower popcorn I thought I'd let go another week or 2 if possible, see if they do anything more. 3 biguns left in the front pen, a Texada Timewarp, a White Rhino, and a Wild Trip. More slaving this weekend. I've got a 18' x 25' room strung with lines every 16", with them hanging, beyond my wildest dreams. I'll try to post a pic, but I'm not sure how I can show it all, pretty amazing. Many, many thanks to Cy for his help.

Some of the wreckage, nice to be able to leave it for the wife to clean up in the morning, bless her, LOL.

Pretty hard to image it Maj. I can honestly say I've never seen so much ganja in one place in my life. The kicker is it's not even all harvested 3 big bushes and some others plus some lowers finishing left to go. It's work to trim those beasts but it was fun work. :D Any time you need a hand and I can come up I will tripps. You've helped me plenty too thanks for all. :D

Ahhhh.... Pillow on a chair, the tell-tale sign of a long-session trimming location. :D That, and the acre of forest on the floor. ;)

I'm getting a semi just thinking of the pics.

The Wild Trip and the late TT are still out there, pretty good weather this week, no sign of mold on either, I'm gonna leave 'em til next weekend. The popcorn I left on the lower buds on the harvested plants was riddled with mold, so I chopped 'em this weekend and salvaged a little, rest goes for hash oil.

Freeze/frost warning tonight. I'm pretty sure that the freeze will stay 30 or 40 miles South of me, even the frost should. Maybe I'll get to test my buddies theory that a little light frost makes the bud better. A late TT and a Wild Trip left out in the ground, plus a small potted TT and a potted Durga Matta that's way behind, might need to come inside to finish. The TT is going to be totally finished this weekend, even getting a little purple, a small potted one especially so.

Funny how quickly you can get snobby about strains, Wild Trip is a clone I got from a friend, he bought the clones off a guy he was working with 5 years ago and kept them going since, but forgot the name of it. LOL Because I didn't know the name, I didn't take it that serious, but it's developing the best buds of any of my outdoor plants, and it's the only one that never showed a speck of mold so far, it just needed an extra couple weeks to finish up, the absence of mold allowed it to get them. Real frosty buds too, I'm glad I took some cuts inside, running them in my ebb n grow, it makes big, tall buds. :)

God bless the neighbor! He called last night said frost coming...pause..Want me to cover your plants? (he doesn't even smoke) Looks like the last 2 will make it til this weekend. :)

He texted me"your ears must have been ringing last night, nothing like tomato cages in the dark for a one legged man" (he lost a leg)

Here's a shot of my last, lonely outdoor plant, a Durga Mata in a 5 gal bucket started late by a friend from seed. She's been blown over 5 or 6 times, frosted once, brought in for the night 4 or 5 times. I went home Tuesday night, it was snowing, but 36 degrees, I brought her in. I had to leave Wednesday morning at 5:00 pm, it was still snowing, but 35 degrees, I figured what the heck, put her back out, :rotf: . I will probably chop her this weekend, her buds haven't really filled in, but I think she's given me all she's got.

Well, I guess this is the end. I harvested the Durga Mata last Sunday, naturally I had second thoughts, when I harvested there were 4 days of cold rain and wet snow forecast, but after that we got, actually are in the middle of, 10 days of 60s and sunshine. Just a grade above popcorn, it never really formed a main cola, still had entirely white pistils (speaking of which, what happened to Pistol Pete? LOL). Should be a really up high.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18617&stc=1&d=1225633225

Surprisingly, the stalks I left in the garden that had sub-popcorn buds and weren't worth harvesting, just a couple calyxes here and there, survived 4 or 5 frosts and produced some nice furry popcorn, picked about an ounce last weekend. Noticed a few more/left yesterday and took some pics, but we had 30 or 31 F last night, wonder if I should have grabbed the last. Haven't been outside yet, we'll see. And all traces of mold are gone, even the moldy popcorn I left on the plant has put out new leaflets at the tips where the mold was. Guess the mold dislikes the cold more than the MJ.

Also surprisingly, my Habaneros have hung on. Every leaf killed off the plant, but the fruit is firm and unblemished still, unlike any other peppers or tomatoes left out.
