well back to the daughters computer,seems that mine blowed the power supply,I only hope it didnt fri everything in the process.Where would one find a cheap 24 pin power supply??

Try any computer repair shop. Not sure on how cheap but they can't be too much CC. If more frugal try a local flea market or cruse around on trash night and look for an old case that was replaced. Dumpster dive the repair shop could yield a decent power supply as well. Mostly like the power supply is still good if not toss it and try another. :D

well,the way im understanding this is i need a 24 pin 550watt w a sata connection power supply.I dont think i would be able to know that if i saw it.so ordering one seems to be the option im stuck with.found this one for 20 bucks shipped http://3btech.net/24pinch55atx.html

20 bucks is a good price i think. i had to replace a power supply in mine and it was 60. dont know what type it was but 20 would have been better

20 bucks is a pretty good deal for a power supply IMO. Especially if it gets your puter back in action. :D

Doubt it blew anything in your comp westie. They got overload protectors and a fuse on em ;)
They are ussualy the first think to crap out IME.

I am a bit concerned about that. being the mcgeiver that i am,I did something pretty dumb.I tried to replace the fuse and it made pretty blew sparks out the back of the supply.fingers are crossed that i didnt short the whole damn thing..

well an update,I would reccomend that link above if ya'll need something for your pc.I ordered the supply on wensday and received it on fri,so service is definatly there.I still have to wait till my pc buddy shows up cause im clueless on install.
