righty ho then peeps, its that time again:D yep, time to get some beans going.as most of you know i ain't been growing now for 6 months for one reason to another but i basically got my own place coming up in the next month or so and would like to have some clones ready for when i do;)
seeds of choice are
bubbleicous
bubbleicous x white chronic
i ain't tried the bb x wc myself yet but i know a man who has and he says it kicks ass so that will do for me;)
the bubbleicous is one of my favs, good all rounder like;)
I'm only germin 3 of each as like i say,I'm only growing these to get a mom of each strain and then ill veg purely to clone the fook out of um.
i will start off with just the 1 cfl(dont even now what watt it is but I'll ad maybe 2 flouros by the time Ive selected my mums to be.
just hope i dont have the same probs as last time i tried germin some beans....only way i could get um to pop was by going straight into soil....
so,its just the old damp paper towel in a sealed tub which is placed in my airing cupboard ....temps should be stable and fine in there.
will get a temp reading in abit to make sure;)
also throwing this up in here as i wont be finishing but just going over the steps up until I'm ready to move into my new place....then ill get a journal going;)
oooooooooooooh its been to long,I'm all exited like its my first grow again:D
bring it on aye

ive got some pots ive just just made up and gave um a good old watering(i like to leave the pots get up to the same temps as what the seed were use to whilst germin.just makes sense like;) )....the soil im using is 100% peat based potting compost,no perlite for now as the soil is that airy anyways ya dont need it just yet.

dibbz,e by gum lad,
nice of yas to drop by...just a sexing thing ya know;)
LL,
watch them you shall ...grow up they wont,as soon as im in me new place ill clone the living shit out of um..thats when the real show starts;)
right, well yesterday was 4th day since i started to germ the seeds.2 days later they went into soil and yesterday..(day 4) all 5 were above soil...i startded out with 6 beans but 1 just didnt want to know...it may well of got above soil but theres no time for slackers here...i want meself a fine pair of mums for me next grow;)
so its,
3 bb x wc( bubbleicous x white chronic )
2 bb ( bubbleicous )
temps are inbetween 75-to 80f,sometimes droping to 70f...alittle cool i know but that should pick up if and when i add a few more flouros;)
crappy pics i know but its real hard for me to get a good pic of the veg cab as its so close to the ceiling and i only have 2.5ft to move back and get um in if ya gets me and my cam needs to be like 3-4 ft away or the pics blur up...
not to worry,i'll get um out for a closer look later when the kids have gone to bed.....

right, day 2 of veg and i got a couple of pics to compare to the pics above for those that are new to are great hobby to see just what happens in just 2 days.;)
temps are fine now at 75-F;) i just had to close the loft hatch as the temps were on the wee bit chilly side so that sorted that.
Ive topped up the pots and just moistened alittle.(moistened after the pics were taken)

ok so,basicly ive dont as i said above....loosened and broke off soil and the soil that was held by what little roots there was i just swoshed about in some luke warn warter until all the soil was removed.
i then potted them up in some fresh soil(((diff brand, not what i normaly use but thought id try it out, just hope i have better luck this time)))moistened them up and washed the leaves down alittle with a fine spray.
been 24 hours now, just goto hope for the best.the root system on um was shocking, would'nt be suprised if one or two of these go.

I picked a 35litre bag of soil from asda today.. its multipurpose compost and only cost like £2.. feels a lot better than the last lot i used..time will tell i guess

very curious...
new growth is getting hit huh? I'd try one more time.
lots of perlite and equal parts soil/peat
give it a shot of like a 1:2:1 to get them roots goin and things should be ok.
I'm a big fan now of mixing different sources or organic ferts togethen so I KNOW i'll get all my trace:D

cheers for the replys folks but them babies are in the bin:mad:
that soil killed um dead..
so,this fucking wrecked me head as its the first time ive lost a plant/plants.i went out and got meself a ph meter and did a test on a few soils....the good soils sat at about 6.8- 7.0 and the shit soil was at 6.0 and shot up to 7.0 in 12 hours....
so,bad mistake useing cheap ass soil.
i went out and got some of those peat pellets that everyones been screaming about...i just wet um up,plonked the seeds in and most have popped after 5 days.
im likeing these pellets i must say.
will grab some pics in a few.

ok..heres a few pics of um when they were yellowing up.....the last one is where it starting to green up again....
like ive said..i repoted um but i bet they yellow up again???
ph of tap water is 7.0 and ph of soil is 6.9.
i gave them a very light feed once and they came bouncing back but then yellowed up again...gave um some more but that didnt do fuck all.
i then flushed all the peat pellets and thats when they started to green up again. so ive repotted them into bigger pots so we will just have to wait and see...
i wouldnt hold ya breath though...kinda lost heart with these fuckers....

hmmm weird that. im using cheapo soil and the only prob im having is building a joint with the sticky icky finished prduct.
what are you using to measure the ph of the soil and water? I hope its not one of those cheapo ph probe things?? they always seem to read 7 i found.
Cranky
03-16-2006, 04:34 PM
yep...cheapo meter.....they all read 7(neutral)..ya have to use a fine sand paper to shine the probe back up after each use bro...
soil out in the garden mesures anywhere form 4.0 to 6.0....all depends on how much the dogs pissed where like so the meter works fine like;)
also i would of thought that the peat pellets would of been fine:rolleyes: ....

Weird. If it helps focus diy have 56litre bags of miracle grow all purpose growing compost... its 3 bags for £12. Bargain that. I have used almost all 3 bags and all plants including clones and seedlings are doing great.:D
Its prob some city gunk in your water supply??? I know the welsh water is pretty good like.
anyway bro, go hydro. Im building a (90litre)4 plant bubbler this weekend. is only gonna cost me the price of the container as i got a pump and airstones already.

Well Cranky mate took a look at the pics and the yellowing you have is totaly different from mine ,my plants turned yellow all the way very even across the leaf and the whole leaf whent pale yellow, yours have got yellow hot spots the last time I saw that it was because of rapid fluctuation of ph it went up and down too fast and the plants could not adjust, I fixed it by getting the best soil I could and repotted and left them alone mybe I got lucky
Since you still have very dark green parts on the leaves I think you have a good chance they will recover good luck.

hmmmmm dont think its the ph like rubeni but ya could be right as i aint to clued up to much on the ph side of things...
right...well..there looking abit better....started to grow alittle but that yellowing is coming back:mad:
looks like lack off food to me but ive fed um and that didnt help plus they should be fine at this stage without any...there should be enough food in the soil like....will leave it another day or 2 and if its getting any worse then ill feed 3 and of um and wont bother with the other 3 to see if that is the prob....
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2702&stc=1&d=1142681691
ph has dropped abit....gone from 6.9 to 6.6....is this much of a change???ive only just got into this ph lark...never had to check it before now like:o

Well Cranky mate them probes are not too accurate you know you realy need to get a digi one like in the pic below cheap on the net/ebay.
As for the drop in ph its a bit fast but it maybe from the feed but you will not be able to tell the feed ph with that probe but 6.6 is not bad well within range,ph is a funny thing sometimes hard to control with preferted soil hope they get better.
I like your idea of only treating half the plants and keeping the other half as a control well tought out:gthumb:

well...they continued to yellow up and tonight i thought id take alook at ones roots.
what i found was that once the roots had grow out of the peat pellets and into the repotted soil they stopped growing... this could be a ph thing like reubeni has said but what i do know is that they dont like that soil one bit.
so,ive sparked a few more beans off and have soil on standby that i have used before and had no probs with it.also taken the rest out of that soil and gave um a good flush just to see if i can pull um back round like;)
o'well......shit happens as they say:o heres a pic where ya can see the roots have stopped growing and the others just to show how bad the plants are.

reubeni mate the the new soil i have is a peat based soil...have grown many a plant in it and i also find its great for cloning....(still cheap stuff....16 usa bucks for 225 ltrs)
its these barky fukin cheap soils i find are shit...the ones with big lumps of trees and shit in it....had a few of these types and all have let me down.
so,stay away from soils that has lots of drift wood, trees,or fukin boats in it...it will kill your plants.
