get ya spinner out...if yas aint in the water how will yas know;)

yea, I coulda' drug out a spinning rod, or even drowned a worm or three, and I'm sure I would have caught a couple. But I tend to be dedicated to the flyrod on this crick, and I'm seldom skunked, even when the conditions aren't ideal. BUT.. they beat me on this day. I'll double up on 'em next trip.. ;)
We finally had to just give up and smoke some dope.. :D. The dog enjoyed the swim, and I found two ticks when I got home.
great pic's bro,
had my fly rod out last night  skiter hatch going on so tried those as well some elk hair nymph's and Mckenzie special's(local river fav.) and could only get a roll out of the rainbows..
they hit a worm pretty soft and easy yet and tend to nibble it and wont hit a spinner right now as well
water temp is 45 after the hot spell and snow melt.... couple more weeks here like and will see how the fly does:cool:
peace :pass:
miss's got this 'bow couple days ago on a worm

NICE!!!.. :)...
I tossed 'em an elk hair caddis, tried sinking a "Joe's hopper" pattern, then I tied on a "Royal Wulfe", thought maybe a brighter pattern would attract them. My partner was casting a bright green parachute hopper, a black ant, and a "wooly-worm".
I'm not sure what the water temp' is, but it made my feet feel like a couple of clubs on the end of my legs...:p Two miles up the creek, snow is still lieing in the shadey spots.

did some naked cliff jumping there a few years back.. coldest water I have ever swam in .. call me Mr Turtle (shrivel shrivel)
The Blue Hole is blue because clear water is blue. Water absorbs the red part of the visible light spectrum but scatters or reflects the blue part of the spectrum, and this is the color you see.
This is why a swimming pool looks blue, even if the tile or liner is white. You need a 6-8 foot column of water to see the blue color clearly. Water in a bathtub is just not deep enough to see the blue color.
This pool, amazingly, is 30 to 40 feet deep (we threw a rock in and watched it settle to the bottom). The water is so clear that the depth is not apparent, but the blue color is very strong.

For those of you state side, some admire Europe for its history and architecture but you guys and gals have natural beauty on your doorsteps and accessible at that.
Most places in Europe that come close to such nice places as you've posted in pics would either be private, state owned, off limits or incur a visiting charge :(
If there's one thing that struck me about the USA and what I call freedom, is you have a far better quality of personal recreation and ease of accessing it.
Gits :p
got skunked here last couple days(low pressure front moved in) but gonna give it a try later today... might see how the large mouth bite is:D
panther martin's work well 'round these parts.
peace bro
Do beavers eat fish?.. note the chunk o' meat gone..
nope, strictly vegetarians (clover, grasses, raspberry canes and aquatic vegetation, instead of the green bark, leaves and twigs of fast growing trees, such as aspen and willows. Beaver can survive on the tubers of water lilies.)
prob sumpin like a leach or parasite or sum such thang

Gits :p
there is a LOT of that here too, mr burns. Many(most) 'state owned' recreational areas require a $5 "useage" fee/permit. In my state, ALL fishing/hunting liscenses include a $5 "habitat" stamp, a 25 cent Search 'n rescue fee, and a 75 cent "wildlife education surcharge".
Even hikers and campers are required to pay the 'habitat stamp' to legally access state and national forest.
My small game/fishing combination liscense increased to $46 I believe it was, for this year. I'm not complaining. I consider it a priviledge to have 14 million acres of national forest and 8+ million acres of state land, in my state alone, to utilize for recreation. My "Division of Wildlife" (state agency in charge of wildlife and game management) recieves not a penny from the 'general fund'. (state tax's). They operate on the funds generated from liscenses, permits, and useage charges.
I personally, contribute around $500 per year to the support and managment of the habitat and wildlife. A subject that I "love" to bring up whenever I hear one of the antis complaining about the slaughter of innocent animals. I've 'yet' to find one, that can compare their monetary contribution to their support, to mine... ;)
I'm fortunate, in that I own a section of creek holding an abundance of native trout. I keep it posted, but don't ever recall turning anyone away that asked permission to fish or hunt.
In addition we have the "Private" game 'n fish ranch's. Where private parties purchase and stock the lakes/streams, land with chosen game, then charge a fee to access it.
Bear eat fish though. Got any bears there? .. a couple ;). lots'a 'coons 'n cats too. Here's a picture of a huge mnt lion track, that I found past winter. I have some bear pictures somewhere, too. .. :o
Saw a nice red cinnamon, probably go 300-350# by fall a couple of weeks ago, but it was too dark for any pictures. I'm workin' on it tho'.. :)
W o W Mel!.. 'that' is nasty lookin'.. I've never seen anything like that 'round har'.. I lean more toward a predator here. Possibly even another fish.
We did recently discover that a local lake has been infected with zebra mussels. They're attempting to keep them from spreading, by inspecting every water craft as it enters and exits the water. Quite an undertaking, considering there are nearlly 4500 acres of water, 60 miles of shoreline, and 10,000 acres of land.

if you've got that you've got leaches, and other parasites. I just sayin I've seen dammage like that before and it was a parasite.. a predator takes a bite like that it kills the fish from the shock. could even be a fungus
BTW those leaches in that pic are some of the biggest I have ever seen
and.. leaches and flat worms love trout esp the gills

We have leaches here. Where I was born we had leaches and during teen years used to throw them at each other by way of table spoon :p
I've only ever had them on my legs and only realised (seeing how many other bugs were about) when I went to shower.
A hot ciggy end on the back of their head gets em off pronto but being a trout I guess they don't smoke?
didnt catch an elk today......
got 8 for the smoker now :D think'n hickory with a touch of cherry???
