Hey guys, I'm currently using cfls and leds in my closet. I have a oscilating fan, and I air out my closet (with my room window open) atleast once a day

I realize now that I have to get myself a HPS to really take advantage of the seeds that I got.

I am planning on buying a 400watt HPS light, with a reflector, the hortilux bulb and hangers. I found it online for $276. Now with that, I am getting mylar and am going to cover my entire closet. My closet measures ( L x W x H) 6' x 2' x 15 . I have a shelf at around 7' so I plan on splitting it and using the top for veg ( with cfls) and the bottom for flowering with my HPS.

What I really need now is advice on what to do for air. I want to have my closet pretty packed in the flowering area.. DO you think a 400 HPS will do well? or should I buy a 600 or a 1000 hps?

2nd question - cooling/ventilation and odor controll

I need to get fresh air to my closet. I have a window that I think I can discretely vent from. What size of fan should I go for? Should I ideally have an intake fan and an exhaust fan? What are your suggestions for that?

Third question - CO2 - .. are those co2 generators really worth it?

4th question. Stealth. I want my setup to be very quiet, omit very little to no odour and have a lock. My closet is one of those split folded sliding closet door type. What should I do to make it lockable? are there any lockable setups for that kind? should I get a new door? any suggestions?

electrical. for having a 400watt HPS, fans and a air pump/dwc hydro setup.. what would be ideal for power ? should I hard wire power in there? what will I need to have sufficient power ?

all suggestions are greatly appreciated. if I have missed any info or anything or if there are things that I am overlooking please fill me in :)

Thanks all

in my 4x4foot box i run a 465 dayton and 1k bulb... i use 2 x 4inch pc fans on the intake as will as AC now ducted to one 4 inch intake:) that should give you an idea on heat issues.... cool tube's work great as well.... my intake is 12 sq inch's and exhaust is 4 sq

IMHO C02 is a waste of time and money in a small indoor grow'

lot's of the info you want is here already but I'm sure more will add to ya list like a sparky ;)

well, from your post CB, im going to step that up to a 1000 W HPS with the hortilux bulb, shield, and a timer for $ 383 seems like its definitely worth the little bit more

Noooo, You're closet is only 2' deep a 1000w light is a waste in such an area. a 600 is the highest I'd go, but you're still dumping more light then the closet footprint will allow.

Stick with the 400 and use 2 if you have to. You'll get better light coverage in there that way and could even set it up for dual harvests - each light on a pully system to allow for different heights between them. Try Insidesun, you'll get 2 400s for what 1 was costing ya.

With 400's the flower area could be as low as 4', but 5' would be easier to work with. If you decided to Scrog or SOG the plants, you could get away with less then 4' of height.

A single fan for cooling each light will work as a back up plan, if 1 fan dies.

If you were to split the space at 7' putting veg above, how would you access it? where would you hide the ladder?:o

Keep your personal limits in mind. The body can only twist so much before it HURTS lol.

IMO that space would be perfect for a 400w flower area, with a 250 veg area beside it. Allow your flower area 4'x2' x5'tall, and use the left over for veg.
Dont stack the spaces tho, flower will heat up veg or vise versa. Side by side allows you to only deal with the heat generated in that 1 area.

For that, a 6" round carbon filter will suffice, but an 8" will let you breath easier for longer and give you the option of an upgrade.

thanks shadow's... was try'n to hint about the heat issues ;)

side by side is the way to go and not stacked like as heat will be a huge issue to deal with that way IMO

also I tossed my eyehortilux as the plants seem to stretch alot more then a cheap HPS bulb does even when used for veg for me.. might save some cash that way like;) 40 bucks vers 130

as for intake and exhaust.... that needs to be direct to the outdoors if you can for a good co2 exchange.... like i said my intake is 12x12 inch so it takes alot like in even a 4x4 foot cab

thanks for the heads up. I'll just go for the regular bulb then. The top will just be cfls and will be very well ventilated so I was thinking that heat wouldnt really be an issue. with my space it seems like veg on top flower on the bottom is the best for my space.

hey bro do a dry run first and see...but think you will find it to be a huge problem like that.... cool tube will be a must have item if not AC to keep the top veg chamber cool.... with just strait hps the top part of cab will prob see 100+ if not more

I will have a heavy flowing air system and a cool tube setup as well after recent research, looks like that will be my best bet. Now I just have to find out the best way to have a locking door handle on a closet door.

Head to hardware store and get a bedroom door handle with key for 5 bucks and swap out the handle...it'll look like its always been there. ;)
(padlocks are too noticable IMO )

I agree there. when I grew in a closet, I bought a padlock setup. It worked, but was a huge eyesore in the living room and a big curiosity feature for the kids.
To guest, since I had a 1yo and 5yo at the time, it was said to be my tool closet, so it stayed like that so the kids couldnt get to them.;)
