Well my grow cabinet is 4 feet tall, and 3 and a half feet wide, and 1 and a half feet deep, so its has some good space. Now I was wondering to make it little less cramped in there if i could just not use the HPS reflector which is also the mount for the HPS, but its not air cooled or anything. I have an intake and exhaust fan installed elswhere in the Cab. So is it ok to mount that HPS socket to anything else such as wood?, or should I fabricate some brackets? and the cab is lined with reflectix. which is just like mylar insulation if you dont know that brand.
Any advice would be much appreciated though.

The lamp gets realy hot so if it is place too near wood it could start to smolder the wood and in such a small space its gonna be a pita to cool the space you 14 cuft not very big I have @ least 30 cuft and with out the cool tube it becomes an oven with the 400w if you go ahead with this plan get ready for a fight good luck!:)
p.s nice meeting you; yes welcome:)

Yea some peeps here use air hoods and swear by em but I found they were too cumbersum in a small space the cooltube worked better downside of the CT is its small light output foot print; makes no bones in a tiny area though.:D

I have an 8 inch fan set up in the wall on either side of the light about the same height as the fan. One fan is an intake and the other is an exhaust and its gets a pretty good cross breeze goin so i guess the only thing to do is run it all and check the temp and go off that.

Ok be very careful dont leave unattended at first after the cops then fire is the indoor growers biggest enemy then its electricution play it safe!

welcome to the boards. Reubini got you covered well on this thread. What i will say is that if you can get a 400 going smoothly in that cabinet you'll have some serious light in there. A 250 would suffice. Good luck on your grow, and you're right the best way to know is to just test it out. Better to work out all of the kinks before you start a crop, otherwise you fight them uphill.

I decided that im just going to need a cool tube but im a DIY'er so im goin to make my own and I went ahead and bought this pyrex glass tube for 10$, its originally supposed to be used to bake bread in. Its 4 inches by 17 inches and should do the job great
Tomorrow im going to buy a 4 inch inline fan and some duct hangers and flexible ducting, im excited to get this going, I will definitly have pictures of this very soon.

Hey thats neat even got the hanger to fabricate the mount my CT is 6" and the glass you can touch, got a big fan and it is set to come on first if the RH gets too high and 2nd if temps get too high so it goes off sometimes.
But that bakaround is a good start try to get expanded metal duct if you can its a lot safer than the plastic cheap stuff ,please keep us informed:cool:
