A day after the unsuccessful holdup of a medical marijuana business, Sacramento Police are calling attention to another such robbery that occurred in March.

In both instances, one robber was armed with a handgun, the other a shotgun.

Police said two men entered the Hugs Alternative Care business, 2035 Stockton Blvd., March 29 under the pretense of buying marijuana for illness. The armed robbers made off with marijuana that employees estimated was worth $30,000.

On Thursday, two robbers fled empty-handed after one of them carrying a shotgun was disarmed by security at Capitol Wellness Collective in the 2400 block of 14th Street.

An unarmed security employee grabbed the shotgun of one robber and began wrestling with him, police said. Other staffers joined in.

The security employee was able to wrest the shotgun from the robber. The two got into a four-door black Cadillac and fled on X Street at a high rate of speed.
