An illegal immigrant has been jailed after a raid on a cannabis farm worth more than £500,000.
Ayou Xie was arrested when police raided a flat above the Golden City Chinese takeaway, Norton Road, Stockton, where he had been living.
The 26-year-old admitting cultivating cannabis and was jailed for two years. He has also been recommended for deportation by Teesside Crown Court.
He admitted growing the plants between August and November last year.
The court heard that when police raided the flat, they found 264 plants in three rooms on the first floor.
They also found more than 360 cannabis, skunk cuttings in a fridge.
The total value of drugs and plants confiscated were estimated to be worth £560,000.
The judge, Toby Hedworth QC, recommended that Xie should be deported after serving his sentence.
