BLACKFOOT, Alta. — RCMP say a man was badly burned when a house in east-central Alberta went up in flames after an explosion in a marijuana oil lab.
The blaze broke out Friday night in a home northeast of Blackfoot, about 10 kilometres west of Lloydminster.
Mounties and firefighters say the home was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived. The man, along with a girl, were sent to hospital in Lloydminster for treatment before he was transferred to a hospital in Edmonton.
Police say the fire was suspicious, so a search warrant was obtained and investigators discovered more than 150 marijuana plants and equipment used in grow operations. They also say charges are pending.
