ok so im getting closer to that special time and i see all over this and other sites methods for curing and such. my question is how do you actually do the harvesting? do you cut the whole plant down or cut at the base of the nugs, then what?

help is needed.

Some cut the bottom and hang er up.
I cut each branch and trim it to the bud. Cut all the fan leaves off and stuff. Hang up in the closet. I let it up there check for mold once in a while, then when the stems "snap" not bend I slap em in the curing jar.

(I dry all the trim out and make ISO Oil as well.)

Everyone does it a bit different. The way I do it for indoor plants is to get good and stoned, sit in a chair in the TV room and cut of and trim a branch at a time. After the buds on the branch is trimmed I cut the small buds off, shorten the branch to the larger buds and hang the branch in the drying room. The small buds go on a screen and are dried that way.

Remember, the more branch you have the longer your buds will take to dry.

For out door plants I cut the stalk just below the last branch and hang it upside down on the back porch and if the weather is nice I just sit outside with some tunes and work on it the same way above.

Some people like to cut off and hang all the branches to dry and then trim them. I don't like this because I think you loose a lot more trics from handling dried buds. IMHO.

Don't forget to save the sugar leaf clippings to make hash or canna-oil!!!

on the type of plant. If you go SOG or something like that, you can probably harvest the entire plant at once. What I prefer is a nice large main cola and whatever side buds pop out, but I don't top the girls or do anything to make them bushy. When I harvest, I chop the main cola at a place that makes sense, then leave the lower half of the plant under the lamp for another 3-5 days before chopping that part. That allows the lower part of the plant to get a few extra days of bright light and mature a bit more.

you can cut the whole plant and hang it as long as you have some air exchange

BUT, it can slower to dry this way

Happy Harvesting

I just hang the whole plant(most of the time) with a good fan on them until dry then trim, and into jars:)
