hello im new to this forum and about 10 months green growing medical marijuana with the guidance of a lifer perhaps, he's been growing longer than i have been alive.

we have changed our electric plan, to a digital system, this allows us to pay 1/6 the usual electricity, during off-peak hours, the summer schedule allows us to use a 12-12 on/off Bud room light schedule with no problems. but now the winter schedule is going to force two options, cut bud room schedule to 11on/13off, or pay 6 x the regular non discounted price for one hour each day.

12on/12off to 11on/13off, is it going to work? maybe there will be more time for growing.. hopefully there will be enough light in that 11 hours

i know each Strain may act differently... unfortunatly strain names are almost obsolete unless you get a standard seed from a reputable company, because everyone has there own names for strains. the observed show sativa/indca properties, and so does all kinds of other shit on the oregon coast, like a sea of mutts some nice looking some bad...

owww compact fluro light... :) cool stuff, well options are growing,

1 alternative lighting for the hour. 2 an uninteruptable power supply, for the hour. 3 get the plants lighting to the new regiment.

thankx again for all your help, we are still diliberating on the options, we have a few weeks to decide what to do.

Hey there GWSTW - Basically you'll be losing out on 56 hours of lighted growth....... the loss of light at an hour per day or 56 hours over an 8 week flower cycle. This is light loss you will never get back nor make up by letting the plants flower for 5 more dayz to make up for that loss.

Now I'm not saying you cant do it this way(11/13)..... just that you'll be losing out of 50 to 60 hours light during the most important part of growing, the flower cycle.
But then...... "pay 6 x the regular non discounted price for one hour each day." is fookin Highway robbery!!!!! :mad3:
At those prices I'd be reading the paper by the light of the one and only appliance allowed to be plugged in, a digital clock.
I'd bet properties next to a city street light go for a tad bit higher price.

"alternative lighting for the hour.".....
You may have something there...... why not try some CFL's a half hour before/ after your main HID light comes on/ goes off.
>>>1/2 hr CFL, 11 hr HID, 1/2 hr CFL<<<<
This will atleast cut down on the total loss of light during the flower cycle.

11on/13off, is it going to work?

yes It will work.... The longer dark period is what triggers the plant to start flowering:)

I have tried 11/13 and 10/14 in flower just to see for my self how it works

whats the plans for the money you save:p

:pass:

edit: like fred said you will lose a week of light and buds might be a bit on the fluffy side...good idea and info fredo thx

i have read stuff from certain growers who swear by 11/13. I think that the one hour is negligible, and I personally wouldn't worry very much. Using alternative lighting for the hour is not a bad idea, but I think i'd rather give them an extra hour of dark than an extra lighting schedule (sorta). my two cents.
