Ditto that, although I no longer use any Jiffy products here.
I've often heard it said with the Jiffy Pots that it is best to rip the sides down some. It will deteriorate and roots can grow through it, but our time frames dont allow time for deterioration of the pot so the roots can grow through. So the rip or slits down the side allow the roots to wander much faster.

But only after you can see roots growing out of it. ;)

as has been said, when the root pops out the bottom means its time to repot it.
you can remove the netting completely if the root has just popped through, its a fiddly job but i managed to do all 13 of mine without damaging any of the roots.
jiffy pots are definitely the go for starting seeds. (ive never been a rock wool fan though):D

I use the pellets mostly now, but when I used the cups I tried to transplant to a one gallon pot before the roots got to the edges of the cup so I could just transplant from one container to another without putting the jiffy cup in the soil. But if you do put the cups in the soil, score the sides to let the roots out as advised above. If you use the cups and like them, I suggest that you give the pellets a try. The only downside to the pellets is that you have to get them into soil pretty quickly, like about a week after your plants pop up. I go from the pellets to a one gallon pot, and there they stay until they show sex, and the girls go into 5 gallon pots. The boys are either destroyed, or one kept around to make seeds.
