hey everybody
its been a long and exciting summer but the times are slowing down and temperatures are dropping again so its time to fire up the lights and grow some decent weed again.
so 2 days ago i stuck some beans into peat pellets and so far a few from each strain have started popping.
theres 6 white rhinos (seeds i bread a few years ago from nirvana WR beans)
4 hollands hope X spontanica (freebie from the cannabis expo in Bern)
and 4 widow skunk ( from de sjamaan seeds)
when they have sprouted im going to stick them under 2 125w blue spec enviros for a little bit until i think they are ready for the 600w mh lights.
will be growing in either soil or coco, not to sure at the moment
and i plan on veging them for a fairly short period as id like to have them harvest and cured by the middle of december.
info on nutes will come at a later date.
wish me luck and cheers guys

look forward to see'n the grow :)
look'n forward to pics of the widow skunk in bud as well

Great to see yas back round again Brutha.... and you made it thru another Summer of drudge & toil.... erm OK, thats probably not the proper wording to use when you live and work where you do! I'm sure you have a few more interesting 'Stories' to add to the diary. :p
Are you still in the same place, same lights, system, etc?

hey fellas
cheers for the replys.
CB, its the first time ive grown widow skunk so i interested to see how it goes as well, i don't think it will quiet match the potency of the rhino but im hoping it has a wicked flavor.
Freddy mate. as of yet i havent made any changes to the setup and i probably wont do any changes till i start flowering, then i plan on putting a nice water tank in the room with a pump to make the watering a bit easier.
Yer it has definately been an eventfull summer (like always) ill put up some random pics on a different thread when im feeling a bit better. (bit crook at the moment) i promise it has nuthin to do with the 3 days of partying without sleep or food ;)
quick update: 3 WR 2 WS and 1 HH X S poking through. (i had to plant 2 more WR and 1 more WS as my cat thought it would be fun to drag a few peat pellets around the place. hehehe
cheers swissmj:D

Yipeeeee, finally got a bloody day off.
so all the seeds sprouted bar 1 (hh X s)
since last time ive re potted them into slightly bigger pots which they will live in for a bit. they are still under the 2 125w enviros but soon they will be recieving a nice dose of mh power.
soil im using is a seedling mix with a bit of extra perlite and some bat guano.
wont be using any nutes for 2 weeks as the bat guano will suffice.
and of course here are some pics for ya.
pics in order: the 6 WR, 3 WS, 2 HH x S and 1 WS 1 HH x S
the last pic was the 2 seeds i had to replant because the cat destroyed them, then in my usual rush i forgot to label them so ill have to wait till later on down the track to see which is which.

Can ya tell me anything about your WR parents? I have a WR cross too and love the damn thing. Buds grow like a sativa but get hard like an indica. Taste is rather fruity, I've called it blueberry-ish a number of times. Mother plant was similar to this, more sativa dom tho. The parent father was more indica looking but I never really got a chance to see him go all the way.
Incredible hash producing plant. Even the stem is loaded with crystals, nothing misses the hash pile when that lady is trimmed.
Well, off to a good start so far. lets see what those babies got!

hey shadows, i cant really remember the parents from the WR seeds, it must have been over 2 years ago that i got those seeds. they were even accidental, i left 2 males in for to long with the 2 female plants (i dont regret it all now) i still have a good 70 seeds stashed away somewere.
heres a couple pics of my last WR grow with these seeds.

sticky. the white rhino tasted fantastic. and packed a punch aswell, really expnding in your lungs and leaving you breathless. gotta love it.
hey guys. hows everyone doing? in great, just started doing some holidaying. got sept free. and im going to London for a bit. so in the odd chance someone here is from london and has some spare time. it would be great to meet some other HGB members.
plants are doing great. just fired up one of the 600w MH lights yesterday and they are loving it compared to the 2 enviros i had before. still no nutes but i think next watering i might give them 1/2 strength veg nutes. cant remember what line i have but that will come in the near future (i think its metrop).
the WS is growing really uniform which is always nice and the WR, well im not to sure what to say about them yet but so far im not impressed. might have to check previous grow logs and see if its normal growth for them.
and ofcourse here are some pics
pic 1: is the WS, pic 2 is are the WR`s and the last pic is of the HH x S

so im back from my 5 day trip to the south of switzerland (the italian speaking part) had a great time and will fill you in on details later today.
unfortunately my plants were only watered once while i was away and so the roots grew pretty fast and got root bound. plants were looking a bit sad when i got home but i repoted them and they should be good in a few days. will put pics up later aswell.

hey guys.
computer shat itself a while back so i havent had a chance to update my grow for some time.
so here is an update for yas, switched to flower on the 25th of sept. all plants showed sex by about the 1st wich is what i was aiming for. although for i had extremely bad luck this round.
from 8 white rhinos 4 widow skunks and 3 holands hope X spontanica im left with.....
3 widow skunk fems and 2 hhXs fems. not a single white rhino turned out female AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH.
im keeping one of the WR males in for a little bit as an experiment, its a strange pheno this one, on each node its growing 3 leafs and 3 branches. so i thought ill pollinate the 5 fems and see what the seeds will grow into.
ididnt luck out completely though, as i was looking through a big box of brochures i collected from the canna trade expo i found a pack of Haze Special from KC Brains wich i had bought there and fogot about. so next grow will include some haze special, sweet purple (paradise seeds) and another attempt at white rhino.
not only that but a mate of mine is moving away and he has a 60 plant NFT system with new lights, massive carbon filter, fans and lights for a clone an mother room. oh and enough nutes for 1 more grow. for about 1000 U.S dollar. what do you guys reacon? sounds reasonable to me.
any way here are some pics (they were taken out of sleeping time for the photo shoot thats why they are a bit droopy
pic 1 and 2 is from the 3 WS fems
pic 3 and 4 are from the 2 HHxS fems
and pics 5 and 6 are from the WR male
cheers everyone

WOW looking really nice SMJ!
Your gunna pollinate a few buds sites, not the whole plants.... right?
Is that the 'Goofy Guy' that drinks dark beer... that was thinking about moving to Hawaii?
A 60 spot NFT....:wow: where ya gunna put that!?.... guess yas dun really use the kitchen, except the fridge....... you can just move that into the living room! :teef:
Actually it'll prolly pak into that area you have right now....... but then what ta do with the extra lites....where ta put the clone cab........ hummmm. Good deal tho, if you can afford it, snag the system...... you'll figure out the set-up details later.;)

10-11-2007, 09:20 AM
hey guys.
cheers for all the positive comments people.
fred, if i get the 60 plant nft i wont be using that in my house, ill have to find somewhere else. as for the male, he is sitting out from the room and ill shake him over 1 of the females so its possible that a couple of the other females have a couple of seeds from the pollen in the air and what not. not to fussed though cause its only personal stash.
so a bit of an update: seeing how my female ratio was lower than i would have liked i went out and bought me some clones. picked em up today, allreaddy nice and rooted in soil. some nearly 1 foot high. i bought 8 in total at 7bucks a piece. the strain is unknown but the ones i saw at his house (6 weeks into flower) look fairly good.
so im soaking the coco grow bags for the clones at the moment and they will repotted and put under the 600w hps by tonight.
to conclude, that brings the total fems in the room to 13. 8 unknown clones, 3 WS and 2 HHxS. and a happy me:D:D
cheers, swissmj
heres a couple pics of the clones.

hey everybody.
quick update. the w.s and the hhXs are at day 14 of flower and they are looking great. i might have to tie 2 of them down a bit because they are getting a little bit to close to the light. just have to wait and see how much more they want to stretch up.
and the unknown clones are doing good aswell. nice and happy in the grow bags.
on of the w.s has a couple leaves that are turning crispy, any idea what the problem could be? p.h is good, nutes are not to strong and the temps dont get higher than 28 celcius..........? might it be a deficiency problem?
so here are some pics. first ones are from the 3 W.S, including the leaves that are discolored. then the 2 HHxS and last ones are from the clones:D
cheers everyone

**Shurgs**To me the plants look heathly..... I just seen a couple leaves that appeared to look tacoish (Jagged Saw).
While chatting with SMJ on MSN last night I mentioned to just use a lil epsom salts.... like just a pinch in a gallon verses the norm of 1/2 tsp per quart.
With two weeks into flower dying leaves are something to keep a eye on.

10-19-2007, 07:15 AM
hey peeps.
last night while watering i found one of my widow skunks had turned hermie on me. not to sure why, i dont think its stress so just an unlucky seed. 3 pollen sacks had already opened so ill have a few unwanted seeds here and there on the other plants (room is really well ventilated, perfect for shifting pollen around) damnit. so the hermie has been isolated, probably give it the chop or maybe collect some hermie pollen for one of the clones. gotta do a bit more reading about making feminised seeds first before i make my mind up.
so that leaves me with 2 widow skunks and 2 holland hope X spontanica, plus the clones.
this morning i had a go at some breeding. using one of the HHxS fems and the WR male i have (the male that is growing 3 leaves and 3 branches from each node on the main stem). just using a cotton bud (the ones for cleanin ya ears out) collected some pollen from the open male flowers and then rubbing the cotton bud on one of the branches from the hhxs. labeled the branch and i think im good to got. maybe ill do the same branch again in a couple days just to make sure. hopefully i kept the pollen isolated only on that branch.
photos: 1 pollen on the cotton bud 2-3 male WR showing open pods 4 branch from female HHxS that i pollinated 5/6 the hermie WS
any suggestions about what 2 do with the hermie.
cheers Swissmj

well here we are at day 21 of flower and plants are looking great.
still no update on the clones but the 2 WS and the 2 HHxS are styling it.
next watering ill give them their first shot of PK 13/14.
since one of the plants was removed because it turned hermie on me the other 4 have had much more room under the 600 and the lower buds have started catching up in size.

hey everyone.
been out partyin alot in the last couple weeks so havent had time to update the grow. also lost my fone while partying so no more pics for the time being.
clones are at day 40 flower and are starting to fatten up nicely
the 2 WS and the 2 HHxS are at day 54 and are looking great. got me a 30x scope to keep an eye on the trichs and so far still all clear. im guessing ill be harvesting in the next 10 days and will start flushing soon.
quick question, what an ideal ph level for flushing? and is it really neccesary to add a flushing solution to the water or is it all good flushing with just ph balanced water?
will try to get my hands on a camera but no promises hehe.

Not sure of an ideal ph for flushing nor for a flushing additive.... never dun it/ used it.
I always just use plain 7.0ph water the last 4 to 6 waterings... watering every 3 or 4 dayz.

getting close to harvest time for some of the plants. the widow skunks and holand hope X spontanica are at day 58 flower and will be getting the chop in a few days. started flushing them 3 days ago with just plain tap water (p.h 7.1)

harvested the 2 widow skunks not to long ago. was not to impressed by this strain at all and would not recomend anyone to get it. female ratio was great but then 2 turned hermie (not stress related as far as i could see) growth was very slow and end result was also pretty low.
