15 seeds have now broken the ground and i want to get em under the 400watt MH, i hate fucking with the floros (im using 1 4 foot floro for all 15...) they have only 1 leaf set now besides their weird seed leaves. is it ok to stick em under it or should i wait?

I would say it's cool to put them under the 400 MH, just keep it a few feet from the tops of the plants. Let them get more light than from the one fluoro, but do not let them burn up. Sometimes the fluoros are nice for veg because you can control the height of the plant by slamming the light on top of them. i still don't think you'd have too much to worry about from the HID though.
2 cents from me,

yep, less heat = less stress n stretch with a better spectrum of light which makes for more compact plants;)
all i use for the first week or two myself...aint seen a diff when using 400w hps from go so why waste juice i say:)
just my 2 bobs worth also...tizz a what ever suites you best i guess;)

I always use my 400 MH on seedlings as soon as the cotys come out (first 2 weird leaves )
I place the seedlings at LEAST 18 inches away from the lamp and keep a very slight breeze on them with a small fan ;)
Haven't noticed any burn yet so I guess its working, try it out and see what works for you :D

it is alright to stick em under it but probly not the best of things to do really :)
I notice when i start mine out under the 1k hps they tend to stretch more then when i start with flo's in veg
I like to start 15 under 2 40 watt shop light's for a week then add 2 more and the 1k above those about 3 feet for the second week then toss the flo's after14 days or so and lower the 1k down
one thing with shop lights like G-mang said is you can get em right down on the plant (within an inch) to keep the plant from growing up so fast, if the plant is not growing up then it must be growing down (roots) ;)
nice roots will make the plant happy later on down the road
I use eyehortlux HPS bulbs so dont really have a use for a MH light

your plants will definitely stretch on u because u will have to keep the light far away even though they are powerful lights the plant will stretch for them because they are seedlings. go with the shop lights for a few more weeks then to the 400watter well good luck on what ever u decide peace

thanks man, i was seriously contemplating putting em under the light earlier but decided to wait. i have plenty of vertical space and im not really worried bout stretching - but when you put it that way it doesnt seem to be such a good idea
using the MH for one more grow then its gonna be an HPS conversion lamp all the way :D
thanks for everyones input - i love this site  peace out

i have done it both ways. i've even started from seed to harvest in 5 gallon buckts without transplanting once, and using full HID lighting the entire grow. just gatta watch the mositure, and make sure they are not too close to the HID when they poke up outta the soil :D Either way will be fine, IMO. Cheers
