Transplant question

I have a plant that is about 18" tall and I am going to transplant it into a 5 gallon pot. Can I bury 4 - 6" of the stalk so that only 12" of the plant is above the dirt when I transplant it or will that harm the plant? Thanks.

I always bury deep like bro... right up to the coty's and above if need be :)

roots will fill the bucket top to bottom no matter what ;) and the plant wont even stumble over it... one can also trim the lower pop corn stuff off to aid in upper secondary bud growth... been feed'n my clipings of said matter to the worm pit :p

I bury mine deep also.When I transplantI usually go right up to the round leaves or a little deeper if need be.Keep it GREEN:D
