Tis a while since last I’ve grown, so its about time I resurrected the NFT set-up.
Changes this time around are going from 1.2K HID to 2.4K HID on dual ballasts. That’s 4X 600W full spectrum lamps under the same tried and trusted ‘adjusta-shade’ wings.
Fluid volume will jump from 180-200 litres to 360-400 litres. I’ll be using the same remote res set up I created at the beginning and the same NZ EC & PH monitors.
Nutes will be Canna’s ‘Aqua’ which will be a welcome return after the calcium rich ‘substra’ range which I was ill advised to try out. The Substra range was in fact RTW and not fit for NFT, however the results were good if not a little under weight.
Extraction is 10 inch acoustic squirrel RVK with an oversized MountainAir carbon scrubber and 4ft silencer. Incoming air will be via vacuum as the build will have a 4inch cavity that the air will be drawn through. This way any leak will become circulatory and not free to roam as atmospheric smell!
Having the cavity & work area under negative pressure will hopefully control both the new clone and drying cab area temps via slide vents on each cab, with their own dedicated incoming air source. I'll be adding some 'as it happens' build pictures soon showing how the cavity effect works.
I’ve a good 7ft height on this grow but I’ll be making this first one clone to home and 30-50 in numbers. The strain is Netherlands SK Special with more from the Netherlands range following this grow.
The build will be complete within 4 weeks but I’ve started this thread now to gauge interest. If all goes well I’ll end up with a few tubs of quality smoke and will have learnt as much as in previous grows.
another NFT grow
will be watching along :)
would say good luck but a green thumb like you doesnt need it :p
bring on the show ol' chap

Thank you grasshopper. ;)
I'm quite interested in F&D and hoped to be involved this time round, but I'm not paying the price hey ask for the intermediate 'brain' bucket and I haven't he brain power eserves to get my head round one and build my own.
Because I know this circulating NFT set up and I haven't grown for a while, its gonna be easy to fire up.
The biggest decision for me is the wall finish. I'm seriously tempted to going back to foil walls. I know flat white ests the best, but foil gave me the best gm per watt.
Thanks CB. Updates as it happens...

Shiver me god damn timbers. I was just shopping for some grow room materials and something hit me, I could F&D the nursery area with exactly the same NFT top trays as what's in the main area and simply swap the trays over leaving the tanks underneath! In fact, I remove the trays each grow to clean out the sump reservoirs so I may as well remove them completely and have fully rooted trays of young plants ready to straight in! This is a revelation chaps and chappettes. Continuous 12/12 and plants going in at my chosen (timing allowed!) height. I'm stumped. This is simply superb!
I adore F&D for bringing cuttings on, but it was laying 10 inches of roots onto the NFT table that I never liked. It was like the roots were laid in place and hadn't entwined with the capillary matting. Completely un-natural. This way I can get the youngsters sat at final resting place from first sign of roots by going straight into a second set of NFT trays in the nursery.
Why didn't I think of this before!!!!!!!
That's it... I'm all fired up now..... just what I needed......:gthumb:

So you ungrateful bunch of reprobates, You wanna see a GJ?
The set up is as above in the first post, except I'm having two grow areas. Each area will be 2.5M X 1.75M or 8ft X 5.7ft.
Reason for the two rooms is so I can run two header tank NFT systems and adjust each system separately to 'play' with  I can also grow two separate strains needing two different lengths of flower period and have the two rooms on differing light schedules, which will in return reduce the harvesting to every 4-5 weeks if I choose to oppose lighting schedules.....
The first room will be straight into flower with apx 7 outdoor organics ranging from 3 to 5-6ft tall. The second room will house the aero cloner for apx 40 cuttings until ready to go straight into flower with the NFT tanks. When the first organic room is harvested, that too will then be NFT.
Having the organics ready to go straight into flower will help me concentrate on getting the second room ready whilst its cuttings root in the aero.
Pics include one of my own fat ass sat on one of the garden benches. Behind is the biggest specimen but this was taken about a month ago. In fact they all were.
The other pics show all the organics but the smallest ones will be going for clone.
So whataya reckon? :buttshake

Same all the way through ND & Q, female seeds.nl special SK. I'll only be growing it as I have the mothers but I won't be growing it again.
I find that with SK varieties, you can only get 'so' stoned and that's it, no matter how much or many you smoke. The other downside to SK varieties is the apathy you feel the next day. I have never felt so un-interested in work than the day after a SK session and it has to stop. Even today I stopped the vehicle and fell asleep on a grass verge that looked appealing. If it wasn't for some black wriggly insect with legs shorter than Danny Davito I'd probably still be there now :hippy:

Its a shame I don't have others to show you SB, but I dropped the camera and lost a lot of images. Some remained but most (some of which were taken a month later) dissapeared  I'l try and prop up the bigest one and get a shot for you buddy ;)

I'm a limey Cheap. I'm surprised you didn't mention rickets! :o
So far the state of play is this. I have near £600 of timber to increase the grow area by 2 thirds, and hopefully by Tuesday. I've some armoured cable and water pipe to either bury or stake along the perimeter but whichever way, it should be electric and water live by next Sunday eve. After that, I need to dress the grow area/s and work area but as soon as its possible for lights to be hung (priority) the organic plants that are in the pics (peat free 'Vegro' soil) will go into 12/12.
There,s still a couple of weeks till kick off, but my motives are to generate some enthusiasm, or this just isn't going to happen.....
I'll add some daylight build pics to give anyone interested some flavour and hopefully, it'll also give me some interaction and enthusiasm.

I realise I was lucky Budz. At first the lens wouldn't come out but after removing the battery and re-inserting it everything seems to be fine.
I'll get a pic up tomorrow ;)
