SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Mendocino County supervisors voted 4-1 in favor of seeking legalization as a way of regulating and taxing marijuana.
Supervisor Mike Delbar, who cast the lone dissenting vote, said he is not happy with the image Mendocino County is gaining. He added he is concerned about what will happen to local youths if they grow up seeing marijuana use and cultivation as normal.
Mendocino County is joining in a growing movement, according to Dale Gieringer of the California chapter of the National Organization for the Legalization of Marijuana.
"Mendocino County is adding itself to a list of California cities and local governments that have called for legalization of marijuana," he said.
Gieringer argues the nation’s “war on drugs” has failed and therefore should end.

What will happen?? Let's look at the local youth, now, that see killing as "normal" ((thanks to our media that swears they do not influence our youth)) I guarentee you the disease of TV Addiction is worse. Media influences. (note the period) If it did not do you think all these billions of dollars to have a commercial aired would be going on?)
Let's just look at the local youth, now, that see alcoholism use as normal. I guarentee it won't turn out like it has with alcohol , which is a known drug that inhibites people but with a tendency toward aggressive behavior. Hmmm... MJ, a known drug that helps people with nausea and pain, does inhibites people but with a munchy tendency. Oh goodness me, I think there are much more important matters to be concerned over.
I hope this makes sense to at least one other person
if marijuana is legalized, the government will just have one more source of income from taxes.
anyone selling or profiting from marijuana will be eliminated due to the fact that the gov't's strains will be 1/2 the price and 2x potent with that skunk smell that was supposedly eliminated.

Makes perfect sense to me...
It is ridiculous to say that legalized marijuana will destroy the "youth of America" this statement is older than I am & that is pretty darn old.
IF marijuana was going to do anything to the youth of America it might just save them! The stupidity of this statement really irks me.
Marijuana could keep kids off so many dangerous drugs it is ridiculous. I honestly believe marijuana would help with ADD & many other psychological problems children have today & would be much less harmful to them than Ritalin or any other pharmaceutical. I also believe that if our youth were able to partake of marijuana there would be less teen violence, less teen alcoholism, less teen cig. smoking, less teen rebellion & less teen deaths due to all of the above. I also believe that if our youth had access to marijuana there would be a tighter family unit because when people sit down & smoke together they are able to communicate in a way that is unlike any other... yes there may be some silliness involved, but what is the matter with a little silliness.
I believe marijuana should be use in cooking like any other herb & if we used it like we should we would see a healthier, happier America!

co-d; What you said reminded me of an saw, "A little of government control is like being a little bit pregnant" ;)
Take for example; tobacco, over $5.00 a pack due to taxation without representation. Or alcohol, here in Cal. we aren't allowed to buy alcohol in the 190 proof form, by the way, this makes great hash oil and tincture if one can get it.
In summation, the end product will probly be regulated to 1/2 the potency and twice the price with a little gov. regulation $>)

If this is true, It's a bummer to think that they're such better growers than we are. What do you mean the skunk smell that was eliminated?

Interesting! :) I think this sounds a bit more realistic.
In any sense, the government doesn't sound like a very good pot dealer.
regardless of the price, what would happen?
would the ATF become the ATMF?
they would probably let the FDA or some unknown government agency handle the stuff and then GOD KNOWS what additives they would start putting in it. just like tobacco, by the way. who knows, they might even decide to market it to kids.
they would probably also regulate the potency somehow.
in my eyes, and this day in age, the more regulation there is, the more of a struggle there is. i may be young and dumb, but i'm NOT blind or deaf.
i'm pro-education as opposed to pro-regulation.
