I am a 53 year old wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother to be who has been a medical marijuana user for several years. In June 2006 my husband & I were arrested for cultivation of marijuana, this was his 4th arrest for marijuana & technically my first since the first time I was arrested I got a 5 year defered sentence & finshed that many years ago.
My husband accepted a deal that our lawyer made with the DA of two 5 year suspended sentence that ran concurrent with probation & drug court twice a week... I was offered a 10 year suspended sentence with probation since I refused drug court, I would not accept this deal because I know I will not quit smoking because it is detrimental to my health & I cannot have any quality of life without it.
I decided to take it to a jury trial & challenge the law against marijuana... there are many people who depend on marijuana to get through the day, there are many more who suffer needlessly because our government with no vote from the people has outlaw a God given herb/plant.
In an age of computers & the internet there is absolutely no excuse for the ignorance than drives many people when it comes to the issue of marijuana. There is far to much information today based on unbiased research to prove the benefits of marijuana for many afflictions that hinder man from living happy & healthy lives for ignorance to be an acceptable excuse. Unfortunately acceptable or not, many Americans still believe the propaganda that has villianizes marijuana & criminalize marijuana users.
It is time those who know the truth be more vocal about the great benefits of marijuana & stand up & demand to be counted. We are many, if we raise our voices together we will be heard.
THIS is OUR time, never before have there been so many who are willing to speak & willing to listen.. if the people would stand up & be counted maybe, just maybe we could finally abolish the laws against marijuana.
And while it is true that we cannot hope to change the laws against recreational use until those that will not even allow medical use are changed, this is still an issue that should be important to your plain old every day pothead... the sooner that marijuana is allowed to be used for it's natural purposes, the sooner society will know the truth & abolish the law that imprisons the sick & suffering.
On Oct. 9th I go to jury trial & will do my best to help change the law that keeps medical marijuana from the sick & dying... I have NORML helping me & two good lawyers that NORML helped me get. I believe that this will become a big deal here in Oklahoma & maybe even nation wide... I am hoping to educate the public & wake them up to the damage the war against drugs is causing here in America, the collateral damage is to high & this law is hurting society much more than it is helping.
There is no justice in this law & there is no benefit to society & it is time society put a stop to it.
Please do what you can in your own state to abolish these archaic laws & bring marijuana reform to the U.S….
STOP the war on drugs it is causing to much collateral damage.
PLEASE! get involved.
