Collecting Pollen

Morning growers.

Can someone please advise as to their method of collecting pollen? I'm going to have to do it very soon as my male plant is looking almost ready to pop.

As a guess I'd put a big sandwich bag over the plant and give it a shake, subtlety has never been my strong point.

the way I like to do it being a small timer, is just wait until the male flowers look ripe, and pluck them off and, sandwhich them in some wax paper, and fold it up and tape the ends to seal out air. then I label it with my pen and store in the fridge. you can tell when there ripe by how easily they crumble. if you just touch the single male buds ever so gently and a little pollen rubs on your finger your ready. I just use my nimble fingers the gather the tiny male flowers as they ripen, and cut the plant when I have enough pollen, I usually dont bother with the lower parts of the plant as simply a few tops is enough pollen for me. This makes flowering a male for pollen a simple, rather quick process, for the small timer.

I guess less nimble fingers could use tweesers as well

i dont know if this would work then again I havent go to that stage in my novice grows,
but when i grow like chili peppers,tomatoes in side my house ( I live in a apt, no garden, bees die if they come in my house.) I buy like lilys as in flowers and just the touch the pollen that is always on lilys (dont get it on your clothes..) to the flower head..it always works for me..and you can buy pollen in cans in the usa at like a grange or even superstores in gardencenters. .but now that I am in the UK.. I must hunt for things, but lilys work for me 3yrs now..

i use CB's method..ya only need a tiny bit like;)

ya can also just put the cup in a box or somit away from the rest of the grow.

2 dabs of a cotton bud of pollen will get yas 100-200 seeds;)

Mines close to CB's method.I will cut 6-8 clippings off the male plant.Then place them in a cup of water,half on each side of the glass.Then place an empty pop can on top of them to hold them in place.Have a clean mirror underneth to catch the pollen and scrape the pollen up with card business card or something.Place collected pollen into a black film container with a little flower.(moister control).Then place that into the fridge.Hope this helps.Keep it GREEN:D
