View Full Version : VERY cool CO2 method
This is a very cool way to recycle CO2. I want to share this with all of you, maybe to broaden your horizons :D

to utilize the co2 from fermentation, i'd have to tent a compost pile that measured 5' x 5' (1.5m x 1.5m) and then pipe it into my grow room and then make a new compost pile every two weeks.
and while we are broadening our horizons (bad choice of words dude) can you explain why the page carries on and on about how we are all doomed to die from the bloom if the atmospheric levels of co2 reach 550ppm and yet at the same time, the page advocates using 1200ppm to grow plants because it gives them a little boost that isn't even a big enough economic benefit to the grower to bother using in the summer time?
In the future, when you have a page as long and diverse as that one is, it is better to copy and paste if you do not have an opinion of your own on the subject. Very few people will read a page that size just for the hell of it.

that's funny, it sounds like someone got pissed off by reading this article. I'm sorry that you read the whole thing.
the big picture is the distillers and fermenters compressing and recycling the excess co2 that is released from their brews, instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. if you were into brewing as well as cultivation, maybe this would be great information for you. maybe you could figure out a way to do it yourself.
what I got from this is inspiration. I support the recycling of co2 because it is useful to growers (and anyone else who needs co2), and it supports preservation of our environment (which I care about).

The advice I gave you about your post was for your own good. I see you absorbed the necessity of synopsis.
And no, it does not piss me off to read text. That is what I CHOOSE to do all night and day on the internet. I read and I generate text. Yes, I do not enjoy pointless and commercially worded text like the one you posted but I will/and did read it in order to be able to know what you were interested in and to be able to treat your post with respect. What pissed me off was that you said I needed my horizons broadened. It was very insulting and it is not funny.
I thought perhaps it was a comment made in ignorance but now you insinuate that I, as a cultivator, still have much to learn from you? Didn't I just give you an exact measurement of the fermentation needed for a home grow? Could I have done so if I was uneducated about microbial respiration? Not likely. Your comments show your lack of text comprehension and were meant to demean me so as to make yourself look bigger.
Your observations and joy in discovery will not be appreciated in the least if you continue to allow such negativity to cloud your posts.

i thought that preserving our environment meant eliminating Co2 from the air so that our atmospheres temps dont raise???
that would be a cool way to get co2 if you could contain it and pump in the right amounts into yer garden. hard part would probably be getting the correct amount in there i guess.

Cakes: maybe you need to take a break from the internet bro. I have read a lot of your posts and agree that you are smart, AND a better gardener than myself. FINE BY ME :)
however, you do still seem pissed off.
I agree that it would be difficult to generate 5'x5' of compost every 2 weeks. Maybe you can enlighten us with your great knowledge as to how large the grow room might be for this small amount of compost to work?
And I still think it is funny that we are having this conversation in this sort of way. Maybe I should have posted my article in the section titled "sprouts with ambition" ... if there was one. Then maybe I would attract a more optimistic crowd.

First off this is way off topic. Secondly in the wrong forum.
This is more about global warming and the company ADM,than it is useful, for the majority of us small gardeners.
Your article is way off topic, and with all due respect, pretty useless(for me at least)
I dont see it as an advanced method that could be used by ME, i dont know about the rest of you. I dont exactly own a greenhouse.
Here's a quote from the article.
"10,000 Boston Bib lettuce heads a day, five days a week, plus 20,000 to 30,000 seedless cucumbers a month"
How many of us do you think grow that much?
I think cakes was only tryng to point something out to you. I dont think he meant to diss you. Nobody wants to be told that someone is going to "broaden their horizon", it is to insinuate that one is stupid.
imo co-d you really need to learn to take some critisism and not freak out bro. I agree that it is a cool way to make co2, but honestly it does not exactly "broaden my horizons"
Peace.
you guys are being ridiculous.
way to "defend" cakes (as if I am on the attack). Honestly dude, your post was more off topic than the article was.
Nobody wants to be told that someone is going to "broaden their horizon", it is to insinuate that one is stupid.
speak for yourself bro. i like the broadest of horizons. leaves more room for growth.
This is a forum to discuss advanced cultivation and techniques.
what part did I miss?
i hope the ignorant replies stop. at this rate the admins should just lock the thread.

Not for nothing, guys... ReRead co-d's first post.

He did not say:
VERY cool CO2 method That you need to use! This is a very cool way to recycle CO2. I am forcing this down your throats, because you are unintelligent and need your horizons broadened.https://svr52.ehostpros.com/~homegr52/forums/../../%7Ehomegr52/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I agree with co-d. I believe all are taking what he says as if he was directing at them. If you don't care about the article, why do you care to respond?

He is very clear about who his post is directed at. It's for "all" of us.
And either way, there is no mistaking the fact that both I and mSeTxOiNcEaRn have told him that we are offended by the phrase he used.
the proper response is not "speak for yourself" or "that's funny"
the proper response is "sorry"
Why did I respond to begin with? because NO ONE HAD. and it is sad when someone posts what is important to them and gets no response.
and it is sad when someone posts what is important to them and gets no response.
you should also speak for yourself cakes. maybe i should search the internet for "forum etiquette for dummies" so i can try to see where you are coming from. i am very empathetic, but you are pretty off topic and defensive, and are insinuating that this article is useless for everyone. once again, speak for yourself.
when someone says something may broaden my horizon, it has always meant "this might be something that opens your mind to something new and incredible that you may not have yet considered!", and on more than one occasion, the information has opened a new realm of ideas in my head. when the info was useless to me, i didn't go around telling people its not for them.
please stop posting in this thread cakes, your input is no longer needed here.
i would rather people read the article if they want to, and have the chance to broaden their horizon.
and i did say sorry cakes, here it is again: "sorry you read it"
by that i mean sorry you continued to read when you could have stopped any time. if you need any more clarification, please just send me a private message. thanks.
:peaceman:
sorry cakes, you can post wherever you want. just please don't litter this thread with your opinion of what you think is useful to everyone.
instead, post more useful info about the science you know so that maybe you actually WILL end up helping someone in this thread.

I dont see the cause for debate here... Either you like the article and will use its information for your own purposes or you don't and you will disregard the information, right? ... :o

Can I jump in and add some more junk to this thread? Thanks!
OK, Cakes, bro, dude, I respect you and your knowledge but I see nothing wrong with posting the article. You got indignant about the "broaden your horizons" comment which was not directed at you (or anyone) specifically. In reading your original response you took that comment along with the things you didn't like about the article and together and basically smacked down co-d because YOU didn't find it useful. I don't disagree with your assessment of the article and yet I was not offended by it's posting nor by the comment.
ONLY YOU can allow someone or something to effect you. If you feel belittled (or any other emotion) by something someone says then you give THEM far too much power over you.
How about everyone concerned just smoke a bowl and be friends! :pass:
