damn cb them's some nice lookin morels. :greatjob: i seem to have trouble finding those grey or yellow ones. i like em better cause they're meatier
went mushroom hunting the other day, only for a little while, and all i found was dogpeckers :damn: they aren't bad by any means, but just not what i had hoped for. usually i find a mixture of them throughout the woods but not this time. i plan on going again but it's been hard for me to find somewhere to hunt them. im not sure if they are different varieties or the same shroom under different conditions
peace, :pass:

They are just starting to pop up around here now. Still gets pretty cold at night (22 last night) but since there are so many forest fires around here, we have new places to look each year. Good luck!
G-mang just good food :D
StoninStanley these are in my yard so I dont have to really look for them just have to wait for them :p
fredo good luck, hope you get to em first...

they are a family.
seems like they run dog dicks, grey's then the big yellows.
If you are finding the DD's then the others will follow in the next couple weeks.
I miss Shrooming in the Midwest.

not psychoactive.
do you always have to soak them? i thought they just got saute'd.

cakes, you dont necessarily have to but it helps get the pieces of dirt in the wrinkled heads, and it helps get all the little critters out.
if you dont soak them, at the very least they should be cut in half. ive cut open big morels and found centipedes  that i never wouldve found without cutting them. just imagine biting into one of those crunchy little things...

Yes I've found all different kinds of "Bugs" inside of mushrooms..... though not all have bugs in them..... some do tho... so always best ta check.
I was always told to put a lil salt in the water as well.... so thats what I do.
And it's always suggested round these parts to soak them over night..... tho that rarely happens. Figure a rinse and the frying pan will take of any bugs..... Mmmm Crunchy! :p

Great info to have. I have only eaten these once and they were great. if I could find some I would scatter their spores in my yard so I could have them all the time.

I didn't find a single morel this year and I have no idea why. I hunted harder than usual. Went out several times for a couple hours and looked all through out turkey season. I went to places that I find them every year several times and never found the first one..
