I am new to this and I think I am ready to top these things. I tried pinching one (you can see where I cut the sun leaf off-i pinched right there) a few days ago and it turned purple and looks to have repaired itself with more nodes going up. (pic2, pic3) maybe someone can break out microsoft paint and draw exactly where I should do WHATever?? ... pinch, cut, whatever. Help me out :D

thats not a bad pinch but i would do it around the 3 big node form the top and just pinch you could also try tying down the top of the plant so it looks kinda like a upside down L and even go a little lower closer to a candy cane shape but not so low, try also pinching some of those side branches as they grow abit it will make em abit biger and stronger

top it so it splits is what im after.

The previous pinch was right to the left of my index finger. The new pinch is the next node up. This time I pinched until it felt like it split.

i usually low stress train but when i do top a plant i use a razor blade to make a clean cut. try not to cut it flush with the nodes though, i usually leave 1/4 inch or so of the top stem and it shrivels up and falls off after a while. if you cut it flush with the internode there is a chance that you will cut off your 2 new branches, and it will could make a larger wound on your plant.

I've found that LST (low stress training) works better than topping because you don't lose that main cola site. If you tie that bad boy down gently more and more over about a weeks time you'll get more bud sites AND you won't lose one. I think El Cheapo got me thinking about that and I agree, you don't need to cut off the top in order to get more buds.

These pics are 6 plants and a look at the stem of one of the plants. When I repotted them I put the plant all the way to one side of the pot and tied the top down to the opposite side.
