That's right folks...starting over. This is my second journal...my first one is here : http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2209

My first time around, I was a little eager to put this herb on some 'higher level' and forgot it is just a weed....perhaps because I felt I needed it so. Not that I don't, I do, just not for the same reasons I initially believed. I need to grow and teach and learn too...keeps me sane. Originally, I tried to follow a few peeps to a tee, but didn't listen to others telling me to just 'leave it be'. I hear you guys now.;) I am reading the right material now, and not so much posts anymore...and I will be falling back on what my mother taught me in the garden much more from now on. Speaking of gardens, prolly gonna be a few veggie and companion plant pics in here too, as I intend to get them in the yard very soon.:watch:

'What does this mean to me?' you might ask...well...here's my mission statement of sorts. I intend to show we can get our organic meds while buying next to nothing.

EDIT: Note to Fing, This applies to indoor only at this time :p , if I was outdoor, this would just be pics.

I will have to purchase a few things on my own like steer manure, kelp because I am not physically able to gather these on my own, but nothing more than a small amount will be spent.

I will be playing around with a half a bag of purchased humus ($5) and some flouros, but I have already started making my own. Too hot all summer here to do much more than compost anyway, so this journal will be text for a while. I intend to outline the entire plan (crosses fingers), here come winter, we might see 2kw blazing over a few beds of homemade soil.

So here it begins, gonna be posting my gathering of some choice leaves for a few days. Few seed may be germed to test, and probably exchanging some outdoor soil for my indoor...get some veggies and comfrey going I hope.

Thanks to all ladies and gents from all over for stopping by:hello: , feel free to go as off topic and post as you like...elephants don't bite.:)

make sure your grow area is all ready to go before you sprout your beans. As you can read here or on other sites, lots of people seem to make the mistake of sprouting and then putting their room together. That is bound to lead to problems and delays that can stress our lil babies and ourselves.
What strains are you gonna grow?

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.:) Love all you guys and gals.

I'm sorry I am not around as much anymore...I pretty much quit reading on the forums, and now I am just reading the scientific info....it is starting to make sense. The good news is, I promise no more 'copy and paste' posts...I will decifer the 'science jargon' and put in stoner terms for everyone.

I got a little composting going on....but it is boring....so I put this soilbed together to keep everyone entertained. Strains are as follows...

White Widow (my inbred pheno A kids, spicy citrus,....not my 'fuel' pheno)
Cherry Malawi
CM x Durban Poison
CM x DP x S.A.G.E.
DP x 'clips'
Blueberry x Sk1 x White Widow (my own cross)
Ducksfoot 99 x Trainwreck x S.A.G.E.
Swazi Safari

Mix is about 50/50 old soil and $5 'Kelloggs Patio Plus' brand cheapo home depot stuff. I added perlite, Biozome, and in a bottom layer I mixed in a small handful each FF POM Fruit and Flower (5-8-4), steer manure (cold composted), and bone meal (1-11-0)...no drainage.

Right now there are 39 babies...I plan to force flower and keep 9 - 16...I can add more lights if necessary. Right now they are under mixed spectrum, cool hid and warm flouro sidelighting, 16 hours on. After decaying lighting and sexing, males will be moved and they will probably get a strong topdressing.

Now for the big announcement...I am going to be trying organic hydro again, except with my own 'mad scientist' twist. I will have 300 gallons minimum in 3 'ponds' in my garage, with an aero setup, NFT or RDWC, a biological filter, and eventually even fish. This whole setup will connect 3 rooms and have seedlings, clones, veggers, and budders all in the same solution, and maybe even be tied in with outdoor veggies. I always wanted my own koi pond, looks like I am going to try and grow weeds in it too. Oh yeah...no ph or ppm monitering.:crazysign

Few pics of the new soilbed and pond construction pics coming soon.:coffee:

Eman, Awesome. Ponds have been a passion of mine for many many years now... I hope we get some great details on that when you start.

It is my guess that water which is good for fish will not support the kind of growth on marijuana that we are used to. And I applaud your desire to dismiss pH as being within our command without worry. I hope the fish concur.

I also applaud your dive into the "scientific" end of things but I hope your heart does not break the way mine did when you find that the scientific community is just as confused and contradictory as the rest of us   :(

don't get me wrong. i still believe in the scientific method but i now know that i will never know anything http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/CakesPix/idk.gif

Koi are some of the most hardy fish around. They can withstand HUGE fluctuation of pH without any stress. To do it right and to get amazing results, the pond must have at least two seasons under its belt. That way the bacteria and microbes have a chance to get very well established. There are ways to speed this process up. Getting sludge out of the bottom of other ponds and placing it in the gravel in the new pond. There are also bacteria colonizers that will speed growth. I could very literally go on for hours about this. It is very simple, but the facts must be studied. It is all about building a balanced ecosystem where everything can live in harmony together. It is very feasible and I have done it countless times myself. Not with MJ but other plants. It is a maintenance free hydro grow! There are some great DVDs on it too.

When you use bio filters, I wonder what kind of fert yield you can get from them?

because this is too great to have big rainbow colored fish swimming around the roots of my garden.

The ponds will work...I have a plan, and can't wait to try it. I actually had 4 cichlids in my cloner, but I have a problem....

Last night I had to pull the plug on everything.

This was not a legal issue, and in no way was my security compromised.

This is very hard to admit...but this one falls under paranoia. I must make a few changes to feel comfortable again, starting with nenovating and /or relocating. As much as it tore me apart to cull them all...I know it would hurt alot more to have a stranger come and do it.

I promise I will be back stronger and crazier than ever, but right now I feel very weak....what was once my green garden paradise is now just a dark garage, and I miss my babies already. I feel empty and unnecessary right now.

I know none of you know me personally, but I hope you have gathered one thing from my posts...I am very stubborn. I am very sad tonight....but tomorrow, I will be very angry. I will no longer hold myself responsible, and I will hopefully use this painful experience to enlighten others to the real crime being commited...I am broken, but I can stand....I think it is time I did.:mad3:

I will still be around, this is not a goodbye, just had a bad week and need a shoulder to cry on. Thanks to all of you who have visited the lab, after necessary changes, I guarantee it will be up and running again very soon. I won't feel comfortable again until I move....and won't be happy until growing again, so this should happen fast....I hope.

Love and stinky flowers to all.

 :mmmm:

I learned last year from some smart types that it's almost always best to trust your instincts about stuff like this.

good luck and stay safe brother.
