Tax Day 2007: Let's stand up and demand taxation!
Dear NORML Supporter:
As you know, one of the most infamous and dreaded days of the year in America is rapidly approaching: Tax Day. However, instead of moaning and groaning like the majority of adult American citizens, this is our day to demand to be taxed. That's right, I said it... Let's stand up and demand to be taxed!
As cannabis consumers, we are the only group in the whole country asking the government to tax and regulate our product of choice. As NORML supporters, this is an easy-to-understand pro-reform message to get out to your local area.
NORML chapters around the country are already planning their Tax Day protests, (http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=7234) but they are in need of your help to make these events a success! Please contact the chapter nearest you (http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=3433)to see what help you can provide. If there are no chapters in your area, and you wish to begin one, please contact NORML Outreach Coordinator Erin Dame via email or by calling 888-67-NORML.
Thanks in advance! NORML greatly appreciates your support and activism.

Sin taxes are a terrible argument to make for the decriminalization of cannabis. I'd rather it stay illegal than pay a tax on it. Government overstepping its bounds can not be remedied by giving it more control.
Make your case for liberty and a free market. :smokin:

well, considering the only thing I don't get taxed on is air, I wouldn't be opposed to paying taxes.
hmmm, federal charges or taxes.....

My sentiments exactly... I would hate to see the government have control over marijuana, but I would rather see that than go to prison for using it... I think they should tax & sell it like cigs & alcohol & we would see crime go down greatly.
I know for a fact that IF we could just go to the local convience store & pick up a pack of Blue Moon Rock OR White Widow I sure wouldn't complain about the taxes.

We here in NE have a drug tax stamp act. only people who has one are colectors. And the cops use it for just another charge when they bust you. So lets keep working on getting it totaly decrim. first and then worry about taxing it when we can go and buy it safely.

until they can line there pockets with even more cash then they already are getting,I dont see ever getting it totally decrim'd.They are make money hand over fist with it illegal,Its costing them billions to fight the drug war,so imagine what there making off of doing it,100's of Billions.
So until we can show them that they can still make the 100's of billions by decriminalization,We are pissing agaist the wind.

Personally I would rather not have a tax on it however, if my choice is to be taxed or be jailed... I think I'll go for the taxation. I'm sure the tax would be cheaper than bail. ;)

I'm with you Fing. If it's legal... I don't want to have to buy it anymore.
That's why I started growing!
Drugs create a market of money that the government loses control of. They should just consider it as one less thing they need to worry about. We're not a bad bunch.

details can be worked out as they come. but the fact that "they" want to discuss taxation is a real step in our direction, I can't help but think a bit of stubborn right now might sour the deal.
it came up here in the state government last week or two, and I for one was glad to see it.
how many that stopped smoking because it was illegal, would start smoking again if it was legal with taxation? we stand to gain a lot of support from people that were too afraid to say anything before.

they do have us by the balls right now so any step in the foward direction is a really good thing......cant really say that if the government proposed taxation (even ridiculous taxation) that i would be out protesting it

as much as I would hate to see the government more in control of something, I would gladly pay taxes on marijuana if that meant I could smoke without fear of going to prison...

Buyers would probably buy from a smoke shop and pay a tax just like anything else you buy and growers would probably have to have a license and pay a tax based on the number of plants allowed by the license.
