I'm thinking of switching from Peter's to all Fox Farms stuff. Anyone here use the Ocean Forest soil with their 3 pack of nutes?
If so, when and how much do you use.
For "Big Bloom" and "Grow Big", do you need both during veg?:mmmm:

Are you using the Fox Farm soil now? I use it almost exclusively, and I don't add any nutes for the first 4-5 weeks. With my next grow I am going to try to layer the soil with mixtures such as alfalfa and some worm castings to try and provide the nutes the gurlz need them in their growth pattern and try to limit the nutes that I have to add artificially. It would be interesting to try a side-by-side comparison of the same strain grown at the same time using standard nutes, the layering method, and just using a homemade "tea" to provide feedings and see what works best. Good luck.

Hey Drumin.

On the Fox Farms website you can get a full feeding schedule. When I bought some fox farms products, I grabbed a fox farm's feeding schedule right off of the counter at the store.

Basically, I have not grown in OF soil with Fox Farms 3 parts nutes. I have used several FF products, and will continue to use the OF soil exclusively. I would imagine that you would grow simply killer plants using that system, Drumin. Pretty sure thats just how CB grows; and god knows he's stoned as hell.

no you dont need both.... but it works a charm....

at day 14 here now and gave all 1/4 tsp of grow big and bigbloom as well as some worm poo tea in FFOF soil :)

think you will like the FF line up.... can stay 100% organic or just sorta organic if ya want ;) great mix and match stuff IMO

Right on, thanks guys. I currently use the OF soil and Peter's plant food but I'd like to try going more organic now that I'm getting the hang of growing. Seems like a lot of people swear by the Fox Farms soil and nutes. I'll go look for that schedule but if anyone else has a pretty solid schedule with this stuff, speak up!
PG, I figured the same thing out. I had N poisoning on my first 2 grows because I was feeding them too soon with the OF soil. ;)

Here's the link (http://www.foxfarmfertilizer.com/SoilSystems_FF_Feed.pdf). It's a slow loading PDF, so I took a screenshot and attached it. I would imagine that you should consider their feeding schedule strong. Use recommended doses or lighter, and trust the way your plants look moreso than how fox farm's think they should look. CB uses Feed/Water/Feed/Water..etc.. the last time I checked. I have done this before and it works well.

I know you're looking for other feeding schedules as well, but, i wanted to post this anyway. ;)

I used ocean forest this time around. Very impressed last time I use a soil mix from high times. This is much easyer to use. Going to add some super tea when i get ready to flower. Then I like to use Alaska Marbloom when flowering.

I have used Fox Farms for years. I have not seen a better soil! I think Grow Big is the only one that is organic in their nute line. Last grow I used their Beastie Bloomz, Open Sesame and Cha Ching with great results but next grow will be 100% organic. I'll be looking at AN for nutes but Fox Farm soil stays until I start making my own which won't be anytime soon.
Good luck, 4 Dragons

I think Grow Big is the only one that is organic in their nute line.

bigbloom is the only one of that trio that is organic.... can bypass growbig with transplants in veg with FFOF soil then just use bigbloom in flower to stay organic and not organic based ;)

I got the FoxFarms nutes and I notice that they really drop the PH of my water. I'm having to add almost a teaspoon of baking soda to raise the PH back up to around 6.7
Should I worry about the salt buildup from adding so much BS? I would think that over the life cycle it would add up pretty quickly.

Anyone using any PH products like Advanced Nutrients PH UP? or some others?

yes they do drop the ph alot as stated on the bottles....

I use dry concentrate ph up/down from general hydroponics which takes a very small amount to work.... 1 pound tub will last a life time :)

I flush once and dont have a build up of salts really... usally water runs clear from the start ;)

hey can anyone tell me which is better to use for flower if u can only buy one:
the big bloom (0.01-0.3-0.7)
or
tiger bloom (2-8-4)

i can only get one or the other. i am also getting the grow big for veg and the ocean forest soil

seems to me that the tiger bloom is a bit more potent than the big bloom?

thanks ;)

bigbloom :)

FF chart says cut the tiger bloom but not the bigbloom mid way flower and we know the soil will be depleted by then but the plant will need to be feed ;)

I add 2 ml/gal of ph down to my solution to bring it to 6.5

never had to add ph up, it has jsut sat on my shelf collecting dust.

foxfarms is Formulated with a low pH to maintain stability in storage and keep micro nutrients available :)

I have used them with RO,city.well and rain water and when mixed I must adjust ph as stated on all bottles.

in flower at full dose of big bloom and tiger bloom my ph drops to 4-4.5

I'm pretty sure this is the norm for the product but not to say it cant be the other way around.

did a fast google search but couldnt find anything on ph'n there product's down... only up

wow thats some acidic stuff eh. so I'm guessing since baking soda is slightly alkaline it would bring the pH up if enough is mixed in the solution?

i reuse the smaller bottles that i got 3 years ago and refill them from the big 1 gallon jugs so i don't spill as much just got a new bottle about a week ago of the big bloom ie 1 gallon jug and it doesn't say anything about adjusting the ph after mixing or anything about adjusting the ph anywhere on the bottle at all i checked the front label and back maybe mines a misprint evan the sheat that i got when i got the 3 pack ie cha-ching beasie bloomz open sesame don't say anything about adjusting the ph but it was bought at the same store as the liquid ferts

Hey all

Just switched plants into flowering and used the big bloom :D
I was impressed with the Grow Big and the ocean forest soil for sure and would use it again 2thumbs

So since big bloom is organic is it still necessary to flush the soil before you chop the plant? :o

gorilla

Hey dooby.

The last plants I grew were all organic. The leaves were still green come chop time, but my buds smoked smooth and tasted good. Not harsh. I feel like if you flush, you only have the chance to help the finished product, although a little organic greenage is not going to get in the way of some fine ass HGB.

Just my opinion. Ya smoke it all anyway.

Well not to be a necroposter... but I just read through this whole thread...I checked my recently purchased Fox Farms nutes.. GrowBig TigerBloom and BigBloom. On the TigerBloom bottle it caries the pH Up info so assuming the content you probably don't have to adjust Grow Big or BigBloom probably when you add TigerBloom to the mix is the only time to consider adjusting the pH... Dunno, just what I interpret.
