hey I am 1/2 way through flowering and was wondering if growth picks up in the second half or slow down.

hey dursky-
it depends on what kind of growth you're talking about......
the 1st part of 12/12 is when the plant stretches.
the 2nd part is when it's buds develop and ripen.
i've noticed that the time a plant spends stretching depends on the strain or individual plant.

It slows down after a while, how much? Differs from strain to strain but sativa dominant strains will stretch out quite a bit more than indicas throughout flowering, but mostly in the first initial weeks - months.

Very much like arnold said. So to answer your question: The plant slows down it's vertical growth after a while and uses its energy mostly towards developing it's flowers.
