I initially posted this at other site but the freaking mods hacked it up so much I deleted it in it's entirety, and resigned. It's reprinted here.

Nowadays I grow legally in my backyard. It's so covienant and much safer from rippers & critters.
But I must admit I miss my guerilla-growing days.
For 33 years I grew remotely in the mountains around SoCal.
Here is a typical gardening trip:
I usually had a partner--a long long-time friend.
We'd meet at the trailhead in mid-afternoon and spend several hours backpacking in, pausing several times on the way to drink from springs and enjoying the spray from numerous waterfalls. Deep in the woods we had a little bandito campdite set up--a rock-ring and a few sitting logs on a soft sandy area near the stream.
We'd blaze a fat one then set up camp. Gather firewood, hang the lantern, unpack our packs, possibly set up a tent.
If it was hot we'd take a dip in the stream. Occasionally we'd fish and catch a few nice 12" or so native rainbow trout from an area of the stream we always had good luck at. They make mighty tasty dinner let me tell you.
Around dusk we'd get the fire goin', cook and eat dinner while smoking and having a few brews.
My friend was like a pack mule and didn't mind bringing a boom box so we'd crank up some tunes and break out the MD 20/20.
Getting drunk on cheap wine while camping is a tradition with our little group. It stems from back in the days when we couldn't afford anything good and when it was dry weed-wise.
I rarely get drunk anywhere else except camping trips. It's the best place to get drunk. No driving, no cops. If you fall down you fall down in the sand, and if you puke on yourself you're with your friends and it doesn't make any difference.
Later we'd partake of another tradition--the midnight hike.
We started this tradition as a way to sober up before crashing, so we wouldn't drown in our own vomit during the night.
Up early, we down a couple of cups of hobo coffee and then go tend the garden.
Usually we were only at the garden site for a few minutes, just long enough to water.
Then back to the camp where we'd pack up and leave. We'd usually get home less than 18 hours after we left, but each one was like a mini-vacation.

If anyone would like to hear more camping/pot growing stories, let me know.
Or tell me to forget it and I'll shut up.
