So Im lookin thru veg lastnight and notice that I have a number of plants with a node 2-4" above the surface of the soil. Well, what if I were to take a razor blade and remove a portion of the stem and root stock along with that lower node.
Would it heal, continue to root and even grow?
I understand the risk of infection would be high, which is why I didnt jump right on it, but it would work, right?

I plan to try it soon as space clears up and Im down to the select group again and want be prepared for the possible outcomes.

I have purposely transplanted one with new soil surface right above a node. 4 weeks later I cut the rooted branch away before flower transplant.

lets find out

Im with you, Lets find out

This was done lastnight
Picture 1 shows branch location. This was the plant I first tried on and screwed up. I just sliced around the top of the branch and peeled it down. When it got to the base, the growth I wanted broke off. Theres no early pictures of the second attempt because I got frustrated and just went at it.

The second pic shows where it was removed from
Third shows the tiny root stock that came with this donation
forth is the peat plug she went into
Fifth shows her in the plug awaiting roots. No loss if she doesnt make it. I've got 2 nice reveg plants of that strain so even if I loose the cutting and the donor I've not lost much.
I'll keep ya'll posted on her success/failure

I dont know if I can say that the cutting has survived the weekend. If you look at the picture of it in the plug, All the upper leaves have gone dry/brittle. The stem however is still flexible. Closer to the bottom tho, there is a single bit of growth that is still standing proud and strong. If this cutting stands a chance, it will be from that little tip of growth. Shes still green, so Im not backing down yet.
I'll try for a picture tonight, show ya what Im talkin about.

Hell, at this rate, regular cloning is just as good, lol.. just not as interesting

Nope, she's dead. Ohhhh well. Im almost positive she would have made it if I wouldnt have pulled her out of the peat puck to see if the root tip was active.

Another one of those, Keep your damn hands off, deals... lesson learned once again. patience is the key to any endeavor.
