was wondering if any here know if it would be possible to grow a male, mirco style in a room adjacent to flower room, no fancy air seals , just a door from one room to another, without getting seed in bud.
Small place here. would keep the male very small with minimal flowering heads, in a inclosed box. wondering if the pollen amount would just be too much.
thanks

Dunno if you've ever collected pollen before or not, but just 2 of those flowers drop a shit load of pollen! Enough so that I made 100+ seeds with it and still tossed some pollen out. When you see some floatin in the air, its easy to understand how it can be soo much, dust is easier to pick out.
If this box you'll be using has no ventilation it will help prevent pollen from spreading, but the increase in the RH from such a thing, may also cause some (if not all) of it to become non-viable.
Dunno if you've seen my grow cabinet, but my veg side is separted from flower by 1/2" board. Both sides share intake vent and exhaust fan. I have on 3 occasions collected pollen from a male in veg to use in flower, with no surprise seeds in other plants.
The collection was easy, I place a ziplock bag over the male flowers. The zipper top was half closed, to allow moisture to rise out of the bag. When the male dropped his pollen I move it all, male and bag, to another room. Gave the male a few good taps to release any remaining pollen, allowed 3 min for the bag to settle then removed it from him.
The female that was to be pollinated was taken to another room (bathroom in this case with exhaust fan running). I took a paint brush and made a few dry passes over the trichs on the lady. That got the bristles extra sticky. Now dip the brush into the pollen and BEFORE removing the brush from the bag, give it a few solid taps. You'll see the excess fall. Then over to your lovely lady and just brush the hairs lightly. YOu'll know if you've been to rough as the hairs will come out. Tag and repeat each seeded budsite. It will be easier to check in 3 days that the hairs have fully died where you applied the pollen. It is also at this time that you can spread pollen again on her, just to ensure a good seed count. Dont be fooled by the buds you choose to pollinate. Even the smaller buds will produce oodles of seeds. This last batch I made I pollinated some little 1/2" buds, they each produced 10 seeds when done. lol...
good luck

thanks for the tips. Yeah, RH is a bitch to control, I'm prob. gonna put a fan in the side and some out vents, with maybe some filter material to keep the pollen from escaping. Its in another room so it will prob be ok. I 'm glad to know some else has tried something similar.

You'll need a Hepa filter to catch that pollen effectively. Other filters will catch it, but hepa is the most efficient at catching smaller micron particles (such as pollen).
There are other methods for collecting pollen, that would not require you to have a separate grow chamber. my favorite is
- Put male in flower until flowers form and turn down
- take a cuttin from the male. preferibly one with the most formed male pods
- place cutting in a glass filled with perlite and water, like you would if you were going to root it
- Take the glass with the clone and place it on a piece of wax paper, making sure the male pods hang over the wax paper.
-Put in an area with little to no wind. Light should not be an issue either
- in 3-6 days the male pods will begin to open and drop their pollen on the wax paper.
-when you've got enough pollen discard or continue rootin the clone (for a reveg).
-Fold the wax paper in half and half again to keep the pollen covered, then store.
Good luck bro.
