I've been trying to germ some beans now for 15 days and the damn things got mold growing on them! How can the conditions for growing mold not be good enough to pop seeds?
Are they shot now or should I wipe them off and keep trying?

it sounds like they need more air.
try just sticking them in dirt before it gets to that point. I would have given up after two weeks.

I'll second Gorilla on that statement. After 9 days I'd have put them in soil and gave hope. If they'd popped after having placed my energy elsewhere I'd be happy with the birth but pissed off with what we all expect a purchase description to be. But its just that, distance purchase. (Not counting anyone with a funny accent or dodgy eyeball cause they deserve all the shit they get right?)
It sounds like these seeds were 'over-humidified' IMHO. Hell I've done it 3 times. Shit happens but its that very muddy stuff which will have you saying "why did I fuss so much...
Happy new year to your good-self & everyone.

Not warm enough. Maybe place them on your computer monitor with the wet paper towels on a small plate for 24-48 hours and see what happens...

Well, I use the same method as LL and some others. I put the beans between a couple papertowels and into a ziplock baggie with a heating pad under. Could it have gotten hot enough to cook them? I can't imagine it would be too much humidity... :damn:

Yes they can cook. Try soaking them in a jar of rain water for 24 hours before seeding. I began indoors by soaking till the tap root was as long as the seed husk itself, but I found some strains didn't like it Drumin so I switched back to soaking and seeding.
Good luck cause I reckon seeding is more stressful than growing the thing out!
hey drumin what was temps at? I have found 82 to work best for me with indirect heat ;) (1 inch off monitor top)
think about a wild seed bro and how they do it....
hope they hatch bro

if you put them in a ziplock bag and closed it with a heat pad underneith they did 1 of three things 1 suffacated from not getting enough air 2 got cooked from the heat 3 they got steemed from the heat and humidaty i find that the easiest way to germ is soak the seeds overnight to 24 hours in water with some b-1 added some sprout overnight while others take the full 24 hours to start to open then just put them in soil

This is one of the reasons I plant my seeds directly to soil. No broken tap roots, no humidity problems, just keep them moist and in less than a week they are breaking ground and well set. I hate to lose any seeds. Good luck.
