I was very excited when Zen came home with a new present for me....brand spanking new XXXtractor Bubble Bags :beat:

As most of you know ....i am not new to brewing hash ;) I used to own a set of BubbleMan bags which have now been passed along to my buddy 311-187

Lets talk about the differences between these two brands. First off, i passed my bags along to 311 not because i was unhappy with my product, but because we had purchased a tumbler.

After a few months without any bags I realized how much i used to enjoy making hash and I also realized how much Bubble was my fav of all the hashes in the world ;)

The BubbleMan Bags were wonderful to me...and provided much nice hash over the course of the few years i had them.

The "new and improved" XXXtractor bags though have stolen my heart.

The difference? The Bubbleman Bags have a flat screen across the bottom....

whereas the XXXtractor has extra sides to make more of a "bowl" with more screen for faster drainage :) And the difference in drain times from Bubbleman as compared to the XXXtractor is more than cut in half.

Zen was shocked and amazed at how fast the final pull drained...as was I ;)

These bags are also Stoner proof....the bags are labelled with one, two and three X's so you always know which order....as long as you can count :D

I give this product a 10 for sure....easy to use and easy clean up...fast draining and awesome hash...the perfect gift for any grower :)

some great hash there, growing up in the uk, hash was freely available but generally of a pretty crappy quality, everybody wanted weed which was stronger but far more expensive. In the last year I've come to realise this is all ass-backwards.

Ldy as you're the Hash guru(ess) can you tell me.....

do you only use trim and baby buds or full bud?
does it make a difference if you cure the bud first?
any idea about what king of bud to block ratio you get?

Lastly i've still got a bit of the hash I made at the harvest, I'm so proud of it the problem is that it makes me cough really badly, have you had this problem and is there a cure?

thanks homegirl.

generally all that is used just the trim....i separate all stocks out and even the large fan leaves...not much trichomes on those and with the big pieces out i find it makes for easier mixing...for the record i use a wooden spoon :)

i have though used buds that went hermie...they got the chop way early...but already had some significant trichomes and i thought it was worth a go...all was not lost...i ended up with some very excellent quality hash

does it make a difference if you cure the bud first?

i have never cured my trim first...i do dry it though then put in the freezer to make it crispy...what i have found though is that as the hash gets older...the smoother it gets...so it is curing after the product is finish i am guessing

any idea about what king of bud to block ratio you get?

this last time i made hash i processed about maybe 3 ounces of dry leaf and trim ...and i had almost 20 grams of hash (this is an estimated guess...i have never weighed before the hash making) i honestly think the amount of hash isn't easy to estimate by weight from the trim...each strain is so different for trichome content (others being more resinous) that it is really depandant upon how much is actually crystal covered

using the pics i posted as an easy comparison...there ws actually lots more leaf from the Cherry Berry than the SKB varieties ...but the Shishk crosses used in the hash (x with hashplant and honeypotkush) produced lots more hash being that they were more crystally crosses than the the cherry hemmingway cross (mind you...the cherry hemmy is in a class of resinous thick stoney high all by itself ;) ) and let it also be known...there is a nice chunk of hash missing from the SKB pic...already been smoked

I'm so proud of it the problem is that it makes me cough really badly, have you had this problem and is there a cure?

try if you can to let your hash cure for over a month in a dark container (opening to let some fresh air every few days) i have found the longer i let the hash sit and cure the more it smooths out ...i am fairly certain the fact that we cough is because its such a strong high :D

these are just things and tips i have picked up along the way...its not gospel or something i have read...just things i have noticed along the way....i hope they help you

thanks Ldy, great reply.

nearly 3/4 of an Oz from 3 Oz trim is fantastic work, even allowing for differences in the strain. i'll have to put more effort in next time!!

Hashy Xmas!
