You ever get that cricket caught in your house and can't find it? You hear it all night long and feel like a hunter stalking his prey searching for it. That undiniable chirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp!!

So my son has a pet Anole, and its prime food source is crickets. At first it was no big deal because we bought small crickets. The smaller ones apparently dont chirp, or just know to keep quiet. But now this Anole eats 10 small crickets in 3 days, so I got him the large ones this time. 2 dozen of those fuggers, all in a 1 gallon terrarium awaiting their date with destiny. And every last one of them is CHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRPPPPPPing away. its driving me nuts!!

whats weird though, if Im camping that is the one sound that soothes me to sleep at night, but at home its a nuisance.

They're neat little creatures:p

Didja know if one is in your room you can use it as a thermometer?

Count how many times it chirps in 15 seconds and then add 40. They're pretty fuckin close most of the time:D

HAHAHAHA
I have 2 tarrantulas, and its quite an annoying thing i must say!
I dont mind them chirpipng in their lil box, but all hell breaks loose when one manages to escape out of the grip of my feeding tweezers.
I have my walls and ceiling lined with pitch black fabric for recoding purposes and looks (i like it dark  ) and they happen to like the spots behind the fabric.
there is no way I can nuke the room with insect repellant cuz my spiders will suffer the same horrible death, so what I do is just grind my teeth and wait for them to starve or go find food elsewhere.
Evil pest of a creature I must say!

Hey I actually just thought of something that could help you out!

Ok, the male crickets are the ones that chirp to defend their territory, and also to attract females...now, if no males exist, no chirpirng will happen :)
What you could do is take out the males first and let them meet their doom, and keep the females for last, that way you can atleats have peace for several nights ^_^
Here are female characteristics clearly pointed out ;)

This is a female cricket, notice the elongated egg deposit organ (ovipositer) on the bum.
Not the 2 other long ones on each side, but the middle one.
Males dont have that.

Sometimes the male wings will seem like ovipositors, but dont be fooled, look underneith them and you will see if there is one or not :)

Hope this helps bro.

Feckety feck feck. Grasshoppers can read a thermometer? Surely this will put remote thermometers out of business? Bummer................
