Eurotrash 2006.

I've spoken about this with Cranky but I wanted a general response from the board.
Each year my girlie goes away with more girlies and I get to bugger orf on my own. :ciao: So next year rather than do my solo adventure I wondered who might be up for either a camping meet in France nearer summer, or guarenteed sunshine with palm trees, from Heathrow for 7 days B&B for between £250-£350? It's a beach side hotel in a shit hole of a country but the beaches are superb. 200 sticks of Benson & Hedges are £6 and if you go loco, 6 pints of beer will cost around £4. A taxi for 6 hours cost me £11 last time so as you can see it's mighty cheap.
The camping will be in western France and again-on or near the beach. 2thumbs

So it's late March from Heathrow or France nearer summer?

Regardless of who or how many are interested I'm still going, so my offer is to do all the donkey work and make sure all those who are interested will have the correct information to book and pay. I refuse to pay inflated school hols prices so it'll be term time only, and all bookings will need to be made on an individual basis. I can reserve seats but payments and postal adresses are and should be your own concern.

You can PM me or make your interest public. Like I say, I'm going and the invitation is an open one. It'd just be nice to kick back and chill out with new folk rather than the feckwits that surround me............

A flight to Mexico would cost the same as the whole flight, hotel, breakfast and transfer package if I stay this side of the atlantic Aza. If I do fly to the states/south America I prefer a minimum 3 week or the returning jet lag just isn't worth the hassle. I really suffer bad returning but getting there I just stay up till midnight the first two nights which gets me in the norm. Coming back is hell.
The trip I'm looking at doesn't have jet lag yet it's a world away from western life. Mexico although having poverty still has 5 star hotels etc. I just like to kick back and chill out amongst inovative locals who earn less a month than I do in 1 hour. Or 20 minutes if I'm called out on emergency. Imagine that. I can earn more in 1 minute than a local can a day?
So you see, I can have what I want when I want for peanuts and still be in guaranteed sunshine with a guaranteed gentle sea breeze for less than a flight to Mexico, and be in the company of people who's first thought isn't ripping you off.
I'd still like to visit Mexico though. But I'd wanna travel round in an old heap. That'd be a blast.

Well Burnsey your trip to the beach (for me) would be the same as what you object to ona a trip to Mexico. We both have our inexpensive little paradises....
Aside from getting the necessary vaccinations required for international travel, there would still be the Visa applications and such for me. And these days I really loathe going to an airport. If it's more than a days travel, I go by train.

I agree Aza.

Update to what's happening is I am going 100%. Whilst I'm there I'm going to hire a landrover and driver taking a trip upriver and across country to Dakar. Bit of a pilgrimage and a stop off at the cannabis fields for a tour of their operation. You actually walk through fields with plants 8ft plus either side of you. As with any type of cannabis purchase, it's highly advisable not to buy more than what you may smoke whilst there. Penalties for deporting are more harsh than in the UK by FAR! Smoking is allowed and neither legal nor illeagal. It's just accepted as part of life until you try and take some produce out. I suppose part of the charm is standing in fields of it and knowing it's just not worth the punishment to even take a bit of personal back with you.

So anyway. I'm 100% and it's late March. Dates to follow.......

Dakar has surf and some of the lower countries too, but most of it is quite lumpy. Theres no real shelf to bring up the swell into rollers but it's an impressive part of the Atlantic coast all the same.
I'll see if I can dig up some online pics of the fields.............
