several weeks ago I was looking for some clones for a new grow so naturally I cruised down to the local club.

Well in the coarse of chosing which yummy little strain I would nourish to delicious maturity, the propreitor mentioned that the clones had been sitting there for 3 days and nights!!!!! What?!?!?!? So I asked are they guarteed not to go hermie, after that much shock? They answered Hell no! I put my choices back. Then I moved to the bud section picked one, asked if they took plastic? Hell no, cash only! Handed them my dollars, expecting them to say there was tax on it! Hell no! When I got home and tatsed the bud of choice, it was harsh ill cured and didn't taste at all like what I'm used to that strain! Another patient told me he got a box of mj that had 2 stickers with 2 different names and didn't taste like what he wanted! R they Retagging slow movers to sell as good movers?

This is just a warning, not every club is interested in the medicinal use of marijuana!

I'd be afraid of club clones personally. I've heard numerous stories of people getting their clones only to find out they had spider mites then spent their time dealing with that.

Also dont forget, just cause its a MJ club doesnt mean somebody behind the mirror isnt trying to make a substantial profitt off what they do. Strain? The only strain some of them know is from low cash flow I'll bet..

Yeah...force the 'bad' clubs to clean up their act by supporting the 'good' ones. For the most part med marijuana quality at almost every Cali club I've been too is poor to average. Clone quality is the same but...there's some real gems in club clones but you gotta buy a bunch, grow them out and maintain cuttings in veg and toss out the 'bad' stuff along the way through the grow. It's amazing the range of phenotypes you can get in one tray of clones :erm:. I mean 3 phenotypes out of a handful of clones from the same tray...WTF? It's very common to get at least 2 phenos. My experience with club quality is it's piss poor and you gotta watch for mites and it's very common to get stuff with powdery mildew.

Went back to club a couple days ago, my what a difference! There was a whole wall with lighted shelves full of clones in lot's of flavors, so far they're lookin' good!

One still needs to use one's eyes to choose the healthiest of the bunch, but no different from buying produce at the local market!

hey Naturalhi-
as far as the retagging goes.....
i know of at least 2 instances where a friend had brought some "granddaddy purple" in to a club, only to have them tell him that it "didn't look purple enough". their solution? they pulled out a big picture catalog of buds, and said "yeah, well it kinda looks like this other strain, so that's what we'll call it (as well as using the "new" strain as a reference for the appraisal).
now, i know this friend pretty well. if he said it was gdp, it was gdp. the fact that the outside temps didn't come down enough to make it change color did not, in fact, change the genetics of the plants. the fact that 2 different clubs (at least) decided to change the name based on appearance did not change the genetics, or the characteristic of the medicine's effects.
it was purely a buisness decision on the part of the clubs.
there are a lot of great clubs around....fair, honest, etc.
there are also a lot of buisness owners who are only that, buisness people.
caveat emptor......
