The Original Cloneing Guide For Dummies!!!

right peeps, most of you may have seen this before but i just thought I'd wack it up here.as I'm not growing at the mo its the same pics and shit but once I'm back at it ill make a new and improved guide;)

light
OK step 1
this is all ya gonna need.
razor, snips, rooting hormone powder, glass of water and somit to make a hole in soil with(small paint brush in my case) and 2inch pot of moist soil.(watered)

light
clones dont need much light to get going...1 x 2ft florescent shop/strip light or 1 x compact fluorescent is enough to get the job done.

step 2,
take your mom and cut your cutting on a 45 degree angle.i normally take my clones from the bottom as its good plant husbandry.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=496&stc=1&d=1133366670

step 3,
as soon as you have cut, place into a glass of water(this will stop any air getting into the stem)not sure how true that is but its always worked for me;) i also remove unwanted leaves of the cutting, just cut them off at the stem,i normally just have the top and 2 leaves on my clones.(i find small cuttings root faster).about 3-4 inch tall.

http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=497&stc=1&d=1133366670

step 4,
i then take my cutting ant cut off the stem(again on a 45 degree angle) to the size i need.(about 3 to 4 inch)and put straight back into water.
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=498&stc=1&d=1133366670
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=499&stc=1&d=1133366670
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=500&stc=1&d=1133366670

step 5,
now you can make a hole in ya soil ready for cutting to go into(you can do this at the start if yas wish....)
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=501&stc=1&d=1133366670

step 6,
now take ya cutting and dip into your rooting hormone.you want about half an inch to 3/4s to be covered.
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=502&stc=1&d=1133366670

step 7,
now you have your rooting hormone on ya cutting, just give it a gentle flick to knock off excess powder and plant into ya soil1/3rd to half way down...and gently push around the stem to firm it in ;)
http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=503&stc=1&d=1133366670

step 8,
thats the hard bit done...now spray the cutting(fine spray)and the dome lid.now, all ya have to do is spray the cuttings and dome lid 3-4 times aday(just don't let the dome dry out.if plants look moist but dome looks dry then just spray dome)do this for the first 8 days but after 3 days open vents in dome(or create a small gap for air to get in).continue to spray 3-4 times aday up until day 8- 10 by the 14th day ya should have nice healthy plants to go into veg.2thumbs

follow these steps and ya cant go wrong...any questions then feel free to ask:cool:

hope this helps a few peeps out:peace:

Is planting clones in soil as effective as say, rockwool? Or any other type of cloning media: those little jiffy things, regular old water, w/e. I've heard that soil is unnefective as a cloning medium. :hmmmm:

Trust me i don't want this to be the case, I could save myself some trouble. DIRT is one thing i have.

:offtopic: Do they sell cloning gels as homedepot and the such? Or is this strictly a hydroponic store/online item?

hi gorilla,

Ive never had any trouble when rooting in soil,infact...more have trouble rooting in rockwool from what Ive read.

there are many mediums and methods for cloning.ya just goto find whats best for you.:)

the method above has never let me down and is easy to follow....;)

I'm trying them peat pellets for the first time but with seeds.....heres LL's thread (http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=396&highlight=clones) cloning for the first time and using peat pellets....pretty good results I'd say;)

will be using them for cloning myself in the future.

As cranky mentioned, try several differwent methods until you find the one that works for you and/ or the plant.
I have great success using Jiffy Peat Pellets and Green Light Cloning Powder.

Hey G Mon.... I was out to Lowes yesterday and seen some Cloning Gel.... GreenLight brand I believe it was... I'm sure there was one or two other brands as well.
Cloning powder works well too.... easy to find at Lowes, Home De Pot, etc.

Hehe, thanks for the headsup fred. Actually I did get Greenlight cloning powder, but like 2 months ago. :D lol

It was just a couple dollars and it looks like more than enough for quite a while. And it worked.

Yeah willow water, took me a while to get it right. Also honey and water works so does custard powder.Using nothing but water is also very good.As hormone lies within the plant its easy to over do the hormones and slow or prevent rooting.Ive had a great success rate just using water.

My mother always used to put half an asprin in a vase of flowers. She said it helped them live longer... I wonder how much 1 part to 10,000? I might try crushing up an asprin and adding it to my nutes feed once a week.

Once I get something worth cloning I'll give that willow water a shot too since my neighbor has a willow tree. ;)

Hey, how important is lighting while rooting clones? Currently I'm using an old flouro & not sure if it'll be enough... Thanks!

- edit -
ok, I found my answer a minute after posting this question: sorry folks.
'eres ol' freddy boys quote from lady's thead..

...pay attention to the lite distance & intensity..... you don't need a lot of light close to the clones jus a simple shoplight about 10" off the top will work excellent. Your temps are also important, try to keep them between 70f & 85f. I have the best results when temps are 75f - 80f.
