well we had some unexpected company show up  ....so all i managed to get cloned today was some cuttings of a cherry hemmingway x shishkaberry
unsure what the trouble is with her....she started to pre-flower a lot in veg....we thought maybe it was the lights...so we have ditched our floros and have got some new bulbs for veg

i trimmed the mum way back and hopfully the problem will work itself out *fingers crossed*
more cuttings to take tomorrow....and pics too ;)

Wait.. and you think a journal is going to help? :hmmmm:
it certainly can't hurt....can it? ;) :D
so later today i will be taking some more cuttings and snapping some pics
i am truely in love with the new domes zen bought....they are the more expensive ones with two vents and is a bit taller than the regular ones :D this works very well for me....i am a notorious for taking huge clones and its nice to have the extra room for them :watch:
CB....as far as the lights go....i don't think they have a ballast....they are a simple plug right in....i will have to get zen to chime in on this part...i am not as knowledgeable as him in this area
i have though noticed a rise in temp in the veg area ...not too hot...but a significant difference for sure

... pre-flower a lot in veg
Pretty much certain the ladies in the veg area weren't getting enough light.... Zero penetration on regular floro fixtures, the new monster floros should take care of the problem :bananna: Maaad lumens from those Sun Blaster 200w 'compact' flourescent
Problem solved, only been about a week and the ladies are showing us that they're very happy with the change in lighting :gthumb:
LdyLunatic
11-08-2006, 01:36 PM
So the ladies i have went with are as follows:
Cherry Hemmingway x Shishkaberry
Juicy Fruit x Champagne
Champagne
and last but not least....Afghan Dream x GodBud
all clones are taken now ...let the countdown to roots begin (fingers crossed on my usual 5-7 days for first roots to show) :gthumb:
after rooting they will transplanted into Pro-Mix with worm castings, Guano and Flower Power added
i am unsure yet as to whether i will be keeping the ladies short and compact (as per the usual) or if they will be vegged a bit longer for larger plants

LdyLunatic
11-08-2006, 02:10 PM
send me a ticket and i will be on my way....westjet still has major seat sale :D
to date in my short life of cloning (only been taking cuttings for about 9 months) i have had roots always showing on day 5 after cutting
i am still waiting for the day to come that all my clones die rather than root
so far my success rate is about 95% overall
and heck fing....i forgot .....i took a few cuttings of Afghani Orange.....i certainly hope i can get my colas as big as yours

Really nice shots there. Are you lowering temperatures to get the coloration or is it a common occurance with this cross?

usually a lower temp near the end of flower (with the Shishkaberry strain) will make the colors come out...
these colors appeared in our garden after we do a cold water leech of the soil
we also have had some GodBud go a deep purple when the floor was cold last winter ...pic attached is a comparison of the AK47 and God from last year
REv...not quite as perfected as a seasoned grower such as yourself....but i'm trying :D

not too much to report yet....they are doing just fine so far...approx 8 days into flower :)
i am curious to see if the cherry hemmy cross turns out early...zen and i had a shishk mum go into preflower before and it made all her clones done and ready to harvest in about 30 days or so
pic one Afghan Dream x God
pic two Cherry Hemmingway x Shishkaberry

Do you think it effected the yield of those plants?
LdyLunatic
12-06-2006, 04:31 PM
oh definitely ....they were tiny buds...not impressed at all...but we think we got all the problems of why our mums (2 did this in the past year) like i mentioned we have new veg lights and the new mums look lovely :)
so far the cherry hemmy cross looks like it will yeild better than the shishk that went preflower...the wee pre buds seem already larger than the shishk did at this same time...and they did grow a bit taller and fatten up a bit in veg area after putting into flower
this cross though has already shown to be a VERY decent yeilder :) heres a few shots of the first round of clones taken from the mum that went into flower

i will be taking clones in a couple weeks....how about i PROMISE to take tons of pics....and make a step by step thread :)
as far as flowering goes...we threw them into flower at about 4 inches tall...and are now about 16 inches tall
we aim for short with fat main colas here...about 3/4 to a full ounce off each one
ice#1
12-16-2006, 04:47 PM
so this girl was only 4" tall when put to flower tell me all about her and which seedbank has the seeds
LdyLunatic
12-16-2006, 05:09 PM
this lady is one of remarkable growth and has a VERY good yeild. this cross grows an amzing amount after being flipped into 12/12 ...she doesn't need too long of a veg for a wonderful height and size
she is not available in a seedbank...it was a cross done here by zen ..with a Shishkaberry female and the help of a friend donating pollen from REv's awesome Cherry Hemmingway
