I am looking to purchase a grow cabinet[approx 3ftx3ftx7ft] and a fan to circulate air. As for the fan, I am thinking of an in-line[centrifugal] fan, but i need it to be as quiet as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good fan like that. Also any suggestions on a grow cab? I was thinking of getting a rubbermaid one from home depot.

well i use a 3.5ft x 3.5ft x 6ft(h) cab for flower and a 2ft x 4ftx 2ft(h)m cab for veg;) plenty biggenough like:) and id go for an rvk fan like the ones ya on about.....they seem to be the best when it comes to doing both jobs...air flow and least noise that is;)
all the best

I'd go with one of those white melamine cabinets. You can modify those really easy and they already have a white interior. Just need some whether stripping, latches, and CPU fans 3 or 4 of em. They only use a few watts. (get hi-CFM ones). they are quiet and do the job from what I've seen others do. Just an idea.

Ive noticed that with a store bought cabby is always limiting. They are built to do one thing but our intended use isnt that,so modifications are required. This Jr's rubbermade box (http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=999) It is really constructed well with several dollars involved. This one is a c-22 malamine cabShadows GJ (http://www.homegrownbud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1927) Altho there isnt any good pix of the cabby itself in this thread you can get an idea of how he put it together.Jr hasnt been around much lately but shadows will help ya out with anything you want to know about his cabby.Ive seen beautiful buds come from both of these cabs,so its obvious that they can be altered to work well for our intentions.I preferred to build my own, basically because it was alot cheaper to build then buy.Plus i could lay it out the way i wanted it.ventilation is key in a cab grow, with slacked ventilation comes high humidity and inevetably mold.So whatever you decide to use for the cab, just pay close attention to your air exchanges. It would better to have to much air exchange rather than to less.Good luck bro and post pix of your constuction,The newbies will love ya for it.

That's a nice cab but I would look at the cost compared to the white pressboard cabinets you can get at Lowes or HomeDepot. I think those Black n decker / rubbermaid cabs are pretty pricey.

I thought his info was priceless! All I can do is pay it forward as he has done so much for me in my little dirt world! The advise and knowledge shared has allowed me to take this to a level I can be comphy with given the situations I am in.
As with everyone- true knowledge is from experience.
If I lack the know-how-
Then I seek it out relentlessly until an answer is found.
Though what works for one may not work for another in this
"mind of it's own" little weed we are dealing with!
If you are growing outdoors then strick out the little part...lol
I actually had a smaller version I was going to GIVE Shadows but he turned it down... it is now going to be my new clone/ veg box if I can get it up and going.
Something tells me I may need it...

thanks a lot for all of the information. I'm gonna go with the mill's pride c22 or c24 cabinet. I haven't decided on a fan yet, i want to hear them before i decide. Does anyone know any good sites that post how much sound differnet fans make?

Hey, i decided to get a hydrohut mini(39'x39'x78') as home depot does not carry the mills pride c22 or c24 model and the hydrohut is all ready to grow. I went with a vortex powerfan 172 cfm fan which is pretty quiet. I'll get an airflow controller cause thats a bit more cfm than i need. here are some pics of it

Looks like your in buisness there CS,Whats the quality of the hydo hut?looks kinda flimsy, and lite weight.I guess it has some support tho, cause its holding that light and fan up.What about the zipper, does it seem like it will hold up to the test of time? And,just one ?,does it glow like a beakin in the night? Those were all things that i was worried about when i first saw this type of unit.Im fairly clumsy and shy'd away from it for them reasons. But,i never seen one live and in person either tho, just piccys on the net.anyways,Im glad to see another grower up and running.youve prolly mentioned earlier in this thread what you are growing ,but, whatcha grownin?

Hey Midwestbluntman, I too was worried about it being too flimsy, by after seeing it on display, it will at least hold up the light and fan. I had to use some duct tape to keep the support bars intact, and after doing so, I am not worried about anything collapsing. The zipper is pretty heavy duty and I think it will last for a while. The material is waterproof and lightproof and it seems pretty durable. It does leak a bit of light at the vent slots at the bottom of the hut, but its not very much and i can probably do something to cover it up without losing the ventilation. Ill take some pictures when it gets dark so you can see what the light looks like. Otherwise, I am pretty happy with my purchase and I think it will last me quite a while.
I am growing white russian crossed with an unknown strain and white russian crossed into a blueberryXbubblegumXk2Xvietnamese, or something like that. The russianXblueberryX... i have yet to harvest as i just made seeds my last harvest, so i am looking forward to see how they turn out.
