Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) criticized Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in a letter to the Justice Department in the wake of media reports yesterday that the U.S. Marshals raided the Hawaii home of Duane “Dog” Chapman at the direction of the Mexican government.

A spokeswoman for the Marshals Office confirmed yesterday that an arrest warrant was signed Wednesday by a federal magistrate in Hawaii at the urging of the administration. Chapman could now be extradited to to face criminal charges for successfully capturing Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta in 2003. Luster, who was wanted in the for rape is now serving a 124-year sentence.

“This Administration routinely tells Congress that they cannot secure our borders and immigration system due to a lack of resources. We are told that the U.S. Attorneys offices in Border States are simply overwhelmed with cases and cannot prosecute all the violations – even serious ones,” said Tancredo.

“Somehow this administration has plenty of time to track down a Mexican drug smuggler and give him immunity so he can testify against our Border Patrol agents,” said Tancredo referring to the prosecution of two Border Patrol agents facing 20 years in prison for wounding a Mexican smuggler during the course of their normal duties earlier this year.

“Americans are apparently supposed to happily accept presence the roughly 100,000 criminal aliens inside our borders – a number that is growing every year – while the Marshals use their resources to track down ‘Dog’ Chapman on orders from a foreign master for successfully brining a convicted rapist to justice.”

“It is becoming increasingly clear that the real problem with this administrations inability to address the failures of U.S. border security policy is not so much a lack of resources as it is one of misplaced priorities,” concluded Tancredo, “I’m beginning to wonder who is in charge of prioritizing assignments at DOJ. Is it this administration – or the one in Mexico City ?”

Wait.... I'm confused.... Dog was arrested because apparently he broke the law in Mexico... bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico by the way.... yet it is the fault of the US feds for arresting him and turning him over?

This is so funny.........

Now why didn't dogs network do a show on that? Or better yet... why didn't dog tturn himself in for the bounty... er wasn't it a high enough Reward! Hahahaha
Unless dog's an idiot, and he may very well be, he knew he was breaking the law in Mexico. But you know... Lights, camera, action... Look at me I'm famous.. I'm a movie star! Soz there dog, your not that famous, and even that doesn't help too much anyway.

Dog, Leland and Tim were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals early Thursday, September 14 in connection with charges stemming from their 2003 arrest of convicted serial rapist, Andrew Luster.

2003 ... thats before he was on TV ....... wasnt it?

Hear Dog and Beth tell the full story in their own words on Tuesday at 10PM/ET exclusively on A&E's original presentation - DOG: THE FAMILY SPEAKS. The special features post-release interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from the trying ordeal. Additionally, tune in to NBC's Today Show on Monday morning to see Dog and Beth interviewed live by Matt Lauer.

No they are not really cops. There job really is to post bond. then if the guy or girl skips on there trial date, they have a bounty on em wich is the amount of the bail. So they hunt em down and turn em in to get there money back in a nut-shell. basically bail-bond guys tryin to get there money back.

Wow.. that sucks to hear that. Especially after reading a whole lot about how the DEA screws over Proffesors at Universitys for attempting to perform the research that the DEA says they don't have enough of to justify cannabis as a prescription medicine instead of a schedual I class narcotic :/

I am finding myself losing a little more faith each day in our government. And that really stinks cause I have so many close friends over seas in the armed service doing their best to make sure nothing happens to our country, when at the same time we are sort of rotting from the inside out.

I personaly feel that the Attorney General should have just told Mexico that they were out of luck unless DOG went back into their country on his own accord. I beleive that is kinda screwed when he has been working hard to be on the right side of the law after his previous criminal past, also trying to raise their little ones too. :/

I pledge to light one up just for DOG, and hope that he wont get screwed and stuck in a Mexican Prison. Just the thought of that is enough to make me want to post bail and skip half way arround the world. Imagine if he could.. lol .. he probably has enough experience tracking people that he could hide for quite a bit.

Anyways, I thank you for this news, and hope you all have a wonderful day.

Kindest Regards,
Digi

this isn't any different than Mr Gonzalez' order to extridite Marc Emery and his BC Bookstore compatriots.
The USDOJ sees them all as Federal criminals, regardless of where the borders stop.

And for the 1st time in my life I actually stopped to consider the fact that my views might be considered "terrorist" in nature and I may be considered an "unlawful enemy combatant".

Scary thoughts indeed.
