Just can't wait till I can say the same... I am expecting to buy just 2 more lots of street hash (I buy an ounce a month), one for August and one for September. The strain I am growing is supposed to have a mid-September finish...so at least a couple weeks cure for an ounze, and the full cure for the remaining. Oh, sweeeet dreams!!! :D

It's almost impossible for me to even find hash around here its so rare :(

The only thing around my way is compressed garbage thats got more beans in it then bud and some decent seedless shit thats priced outrageously.... God bless our growers :D

This is certainly not Amsterdam hash, or bubble hash... There is a person in this area who does a lot of work for med mj and helping people out. I have heard that every so often he buys some street hash and has it tested for content. Some of the things they have found are pretty bad...like shoe polish, saw dust powder, and a lot of other things that I can't even remember...the list was quite long and there was not a single ingredient that I would want to smoke. So when I say hash is all there is for me to get, I always say street hash. If I could get Amsterdam quality or bubble hash I don't know that I would even be growing my own. I started growing to get away from the street hash and know exactly what I was smoking/ingesting. Just be glad you don't get this hash where you are...I guarantee you wouldn't like it any more than bag seed...and not good bag seed at that! It's people like us that need to grow their own. :)

I am sure no expert but from what I have picked up so far it seems the taste, look and smell of the finished product is mostly down to the cure. If you hurry your harvest it stays that green colour and smells like home grown. If you take the time to do the proper cure the colour changes from that tell-tale green, the smoke improves in that its 'raw smoke' is mellowed out and the smell looses that 'home grown' smell. I will be interested to check back on this thread and see if I am way off base or whether I am actually beginning to learn something :D

You hit "the nail on the head" m8 also if there is too much N in the plant when it has finished you get that nasty harsh bitter taste that never goes away, best to let em yellow by the end of flowering:)

As mentioned by others, poorly dried and cured "homegrown" will taste green and harsh because of the nitrogen and chlorophyll left in the plant material.
and as far as your statement "its always homegrown on some level"
You'll get quite an arguement from commercial growers in Hawaii, Columbia, Mexico, Holland........
Personally I'd love to challenge your statement as far as "Specific taste" when comes to correctly grown/dried/cured Cannabis, so would just about every grower on this site worth his weight in FoxFarms Ocean Forest.;)
